Apple Watch: More Human Than You Think!

When Kevin Lynch joined Apple in 2013, little did he know that the secret product he would be working on was  being designed by Apple to kill its most popular product ever. The iPhone. Slowly, and softly without leaving any cues until the knife was through. But wait, there’s more.

When the iPhone launched, it seemed like it was human, prosaically speaking, as it made technology understand human touch, and subsequently fingerprints and voice recognition became integral features of these devices.

After nearly 8 generations of iPhone-making, the company finally realized that the ‘smarter’ it made the iPhone, the more it dismantled the harmonious affairs of the life. Acts of pointing the nose into the screen, randomly running hands through your pockets to check for calls or notifications, and constantly indulging in self-obsessed episodes with your iPhone became as ubiquitous a phenomenon as the iPhone.

Apple wanted to change this and make technology, even if ubiquitous, very distraction-free. It wanted to give consumers a product that’s sensible and beautiful, at the same time effortlessly useful. The Apple Watch, with all its unique and unmatched features, is just that.

Made for Everyone

Made for Everyone

It is an exquisite testament of company’s latest obsession with horology and the first product conceived without  late Apple co-founder Steve Job’s guidance. It made technology that kills the iPhone obsession, makes the most advanced watch ever feel human.

The Apple Watch does not vibrate, it tactile taps on your skin are designed to imitate the human touch, without being intrusive and aggressive. You can experience the ‘feel’ of a incoming message, phone call, calendar entries or twitter messages – each distinct and distinguished to seem like a part of not the watch but your skin (minus the wearable feeling).

AppleWatchsensor_largeIt knows when you are busy. It can know when you want to read a message, and if the message is important. There’s no onscreen keyboard, so you don’t look like one of those Predators tapping on that wearable alien keyboard to nuke the place, but you can still send and receive responses. By just tapping on the screen.

The software excels standards of human computer interaction pushing even the nearest rival to the hall of shame. Its technology exalted.

The digital crown retains the classic look and feel of the watch, but the technological prowess advances it into the next realm of wearable tech, where humanization of technology takes the center stage. As Apple’s Chief designer Johny Ive puts it, our phones have become ‘invasive’, and Apple’s latest product is aiming at fighting this back.

Apple Watch features, at first interpretation, seem amazing. Its voguish changeable straps and technological prowess, make it equally useful and beautiful. Unlike other smartwatches, the Apple watch is aimed at killing your technology addiction, and using sophisticated technology to make our lives simpler and easier. It is a pointer to how excellent precision-driven technology can simplify lives.

AppleWatchMoreThe Apple Watch might eventually replace the iPhone too – at least, and eventually evolve into a sleeker, more utile and even deeply integrated product that works seamlessly with your other Apple devices, like the iPad or Mac, or even the Apple Car (think of more magic!) that’s reportedly being developed secretly.

hero_ygold_edition_largeWhile Apple continues its ascent to the throne of excellence in mobile (and now wearable) technology, we rub our hands in anticipation of the April 24th launch where the much anticipated smart watch will debut in three variants: Sport, Watch and Edition. The luxurious sibling Apple Watch Edition with gold plating is priced at a whopping $17,000!
