weekly wrap up + marco suarez

Normally I write my wrap-up posts on Friday afternoon before I head out the door, but I had to cheat and write this one early. I prepped ahead of time because I’m currently on the road to Brimfield with Amy and both of our moms for what has to be the best Mother’s Day weekend ever. Antiques and brunch at the (very) newly opened Terrain in Connecticut? Sold. I finished a mix for the car ride last night, and I sure hope they all enjoy loud rock music as much as I do. I think it’s the only way to psych yourself up for crowds and pushy dealers.

Before I head out, I wanted to share some beautiful summery photographs by Marco Suarez. I love his work so much. I hope you all have a wonderful weekend, and I’ll see you on Monday! xo, grace

Below is a summary of this week’s highlights:

in the kitchen with: anna watson carl’s ramp, asparagus and arugula linguine

To me, nothing says May like ramps and asparagus. That’s why I jumped on the opportunity to present cook Anna Watson Carl’s simple, seasonal recipe for Linguine with Ramps, Asparagus and Baby Arugula. If you you’d like to try a different recipe with asparagus, try Parigote’s roasted asparagus or Kate Flaim’s absorption pasta with asparagus, pancetta and feta cheese, one of the most popular recipes featured on the column. — Kristina

About Anna: Anna Watson Carl is a Manhattan-based freelance journalist and cook. She has worked extensively as a personal chef, food stylist and recipe tester for Martha Stewart Everyday Food and Real Simple. Carl writes about food and travel for a variety of publications including Gourmet Live, Huffington Post, Garden Design, Travel + Leisure and Fathom. She started her blog, The Yellow Table, in 2011 to document her love of dinner parties and simple, seasonal cooking.

ceramics by tuesday bassen

I’m a big Tuesday Bassen fan, not just because she gave my little rescue kitten an excellent home, but because her work always makes me smile. My cat Turk eats his food off one of Tuesday’s ceramic plates, so I was thrilled to see her new show with Buy Some Damn Art online this week. Tuesday gathered all of her ceramic pieces (dessert plates, coaster sets and sculpted faces), and they’re for sale for the next six weeks for $45–$70. I’m partial to the Delft blue plates, but they’re all pretty darn adorable. Click here to see the full collection and snap one up before they’re all gone. xo, grace

printerette

The National Stationery Show is coming up soon, and I cannot wait. Every year it’s my favorite part of design season, namely because it’s full of girls, cards and cupcakes. What’s not to love? Printerette made some of my favorite cards last year, and these pieces from the new collection are equally awesome. Plus, they’re inspired by friendship bracelets — something Amy and I are pretty much obsessed with right now. I think it’s time to bust out my clipboard and make some new ones. Click here to check out more of Catherine’s cards online and order. xo, grace

Klimoppe light

A lamp that looks like a flower? Yes, please. The only thing that would make me happier is if the petals were done in an ombre style. Studio Snowpuppe is always coming up with beautiful lighting, and this piece is just as adorable as the rest. Click here to check out the full selection and shop online at Etsy. xo, grace
