Get The Look: Elizabeth Banks' Hairstyle At 'The Hunger Games' LA Premiere

Adir Abergel created a Barbarella-inspired bob for Elizabeth Banks' "The Hunger Games" red carpet moment at last night's premiere. The look was a futuristic take on a 1960’s style and I think she nailed it. Here's how to get the look, straight from Adir.

Adir began by applying Fekkai Ironless Straightening Balm from the roots to the ends of wet hair. He then blow-dried the hair with a round brush until it was completely straight. Adir backcombed the top of the hair to add height and then smoothed it back into a sixties half back style. He secured the hair with a few bobby pins. To give the hair a mirror finish, Adir applied Fekkai Advanced Brilliant Glossing Cream to the ends of the hair. He finished the look by spraying Fekkai Sheer Hold Hairspray for an all night hold, with a natural feel.

Fekkai products are available at and Nordstrom, Neiman Marcus, and Saks Fifth Avenue stores.

What do you think of Elizabeth Banks' Barbarella 'do?Yay or nay?

Finest Hour Week: Hair Removal

Dolls, I'm going to tell you what you already know: It can't be your Finest Hour if it's also your hairiest. Make like Katniss Everdeen at the Capitol pre-Hunger Games and get that ish taken care of. The goal is always to be cute; not hirsute. Here are the products and services I'm loving of late.

Bliss Poetic Waxing Strips
These are excellent for everything from arms to brows to lip to bikini touch-ups. The last thing you want pre-prom is to deal with a last-minute hair emergency, so keep these easy-to-use strips in your arsenal for smooth, silkiness. $36 for 36 waxing strips at

Laser Hair Removal
I've discussed my experience at Pulse Laser Skincare Center with the talented Jennifer here, but I have to report on my progress, now that I'm three sessions deep and only shaving once every week or two. Seriously. It's a total lifestyle change. Not only do I save on weekly bikini wax sessions, I don't have to deal with that grow-out phase that lasts pretty much all month, save for the week of. I'm considering springing for my underarms, as well. Stay tuned for more posts on my post-laser lifestyle as I get more treatments in the next few months.

Venus & Olay Razor
The newest Venus razor, a hydrating, no-shave-cream-needed iteration made in collaboration with Olay, has been deemed the official razor of the 2012 Sports Illustrated edition. What better way to showcase the shaver's capabilities than the major leg real estate within the pages of every male sports fanatic's favorite issue? The brand partnered with the gorgeous Chrissy Teigen as the product's spokesmodel. She's a past S.I. girl herself, fiancée to sexy singer John Legend, and shaves TWICE A DAY. Can you even? That's gambitious, friends.  The new razor, which launches March 15, has been designed with Venus’ traditional five-blades in addition to Olay moisture bars that combine petrolatum and glycerin to help lock in skin’s moisture and keep your gams glowing. And? It smells like creme brulee. Just TRY to keep your prom date from getting handsy with all that going on.

Get The Look: Jennifer Lawrence At 'The Hunger Games' LA Premiere

The girl on fire! Is it March 23 yet?

Dove Celebrity Stylist Mark Townsend styled Jennifer Lawrence's hair last night for The Hunger Games premiere in LA. Here's how to get the look.

"I started by applying a large dollop of Dove Style+Care Nourishing Curls Whipped Cream Mousse to Jennifer's damp hair and blow dried with a large round brush.

Next, I took 3-inch sections of hair and sprayed Dove Style+Care Thermal Replenishment Spray on the hair before wrapping it around a 1-inch curling iron. Then, I sprayed Sally Hershberger Genius Spray Wax all over to give her hair second-day texture. I took two Jennifer Behr headbands and braided them into her hair, and then pinned the braid into a bun.

I always spray Dove Refresh+Care Invigorating Dry Shampoo on my Bobby pins for extra hold. I finished by spraying Dove Style+Care Extra Hold Hairspray all over to keep every hair in place all night."

I think she looks gorgeous. What do you think about Jennifer Lawrence's red carpet hairstyle for The Hunger Games premiere?

What's On Norma Kamali's Vanity?

Norma and moi! Naturally, I'm
wearing my All-in-One Norma Kamali Tunic.

The What's On Your Vanity Series showcases a single beauty item an industry insider loves because it's effective, but also she feels she must keep out on top of her vanity because the gorgeous packaging must be displayed.

A bottle similar to the one on Norma's vanity. She replicated
it in an elongated version for her own olive oil line.

Norma Kamali is a LEGEND. The sultana (yes, that's the female version of sultan--I looked it up) of sweats has long been one of my very favorite designers. Her bathing suits are the stuff of dreams. She can do a shawl collar like no other. And her sleeping bag coats? To die. Do you know that her all-in-one tunic was designed in 1974 and remains just as MAJOR in 2012 as it was then? I literally wear mine once a week and pack it for every trip I go on. It was such a good investment, I'm looking to add a cobalt, red and striped one to my mix, as well.
Kamali Kulture Long Sleeved Side Draped Dress

Yesterday, I stopped by Norma's Wellness Cafe at her midtown flagship store where she interviewed me (that's a first, certainly) and I also got to ask her a few burning questions of my own. I also got a tour of her new Kamali Kulture line, which will soon be sold on and It's a collection of insanely flattering wear-to-death pieces, each priced under $100 (and many below even that--you can get a gorgeous suit for $100. It ALMOST makes me wish I worked in finance full-time again. Almost.) Stay tuned for a full Q&A with Norma, but in the meantime, read on and check out what's on her vanity. In Norma's words:

"When I turned 50, I realized I had so much stuff and I gave everything away. Everything. So now, there's absolutely nothing on my vanity except a mirror. [ed. note: I LOVE THAT THE ANSWER TO WHAT'S ON NORMA KAMALI'S VANITY IS NOTHING!] But! In my bathroom, I have something that I keep out. I created a fragrance called Norma Kamali in 1982 or 1983 and it can't be made anymore--all the raw materials are impossible to get again. The fragrance is so spectacular. And I have the last bottle. It's a 750ml bottle that I'm never opening. I want to have evidence of it existing and this is all that's left. It's a nice memory. Currently, I wear Intelligent Nutrients Restore fragrance, myself, because I need to restore all the time."

If you think I didn't look up that Norma Kamali fragrance on eBay the second I got home, you don't know me at all. Alas, there's nothing available at the moment, but I did find a photo of it here.

Thanks to Norma for sharing what's on her vanity! Stay tuned for the full Q&A later this week.
