Expo "Filatem 2010" in Spain
Du 19 au 26 juin 2010, la ville espagnole d'Avilés, située dans les Asturies (côte nord du pays) a organisé l'exposition de philatélie thématique internationale Filatem 2010.
Pour annoncer cet évènement, la poste espagnole a émis, le 19 juin 2010, un joli bloc-feuillet composé d'un timbre à 2,49€.
C'est ce bloc numéroté (290541 sur 300000) qui figure à gauche sur la jolie lettre ci-dessous postée le 28 mai 2011 de la ville d'Alicante. Merci beaucoup Luis :-)
Le timbre montre une vue aérienne du centre culturel international Oscar Niemeyer, le plus important complexe conçu par l'architecte brésilien en Europe. Composé de 5 espaces spécifiques, ce centre a été inauguré le 26 mars 2011.
From 19 to 26 June 2010, the Spanish city of Avilés, located in Asturias (northern coast) has organized an international thematic philatelic exhibition "Filatem 2010".
To announce this event, the Spanish Post has issued on June 19 2010, a nice souvenir sheet consisting of a € 2.49 stamp.
It's this numbered (290,541/300,000) sheet that appears to the left on the nice letter below mailed on May 28, 2011 from the city of Alicante.

The stamp depicts an aerial view of the Oscar Niemeyer International Cultural Centre, the largest complex designed by Brazilian architect in Europe. Composed of five specific areas, this center was inaugurated on March 26, 2011.
Luis a utilisé deux autres timbres, émis en 2003. Celui ci-dessus à droite, émis le 21 février 2003, est consacré à une autre exposition philatélique, la 18ème édition de l'expo nationale de philatélie de la jeunesse "Juvenia 2003", organisée du 22 février au 1er mars 2003 dans la ville de Benissa (province d'Alicante).
Ce timbre, conçu par l'étudiante Tatiana Torres Cardona, évoque une vue de la ville avec en particulier l'église de la Puríssima Xiqueta, également connue sous le nom de Cathédrale de la Marina. Ce symbole de la ville a été construit dans un style néo gothique entre 1902 et 1929.
L'autre timbre, émis le 6 octobre 2003, commémore le 75ème anniversaire de l'école technique supérieure d'ingénieurs en aéronautique (ETSIA). Une vue aérienne du bâtiment de cette école, situé sur le site de l'université polytechnique de Madrid, est représentée sur ce timbre.
Luis has used two other stamps, issued in 2003. The first one above to the right, issued on February 21, 2003, is devoted to another philatelic exhibition, the 18th edition of the Youth National Philatelic Exhibition "Juvenia 2003", held from February 22 to March 1, 2003 in the city of Benissa (Province of Alicante).
This stamp, designed by the student Tatiana Torres Cardona, evokes a view of the city with in particular the Church of Puríssima Xiqueta, also known as the Cathedral of the Marina. This symbol of the city was built in a neogothic style from 1902 to 1929.
The other stamp, issued on October 6, 2003, commemorates the 75th anniversary of the Aeronautical engineers technical high school (ETSIA). An aerial view of the school's building, located on the site of the Polytechnic University of Madrid, is featured on this stamp.
EUROPA 2011 stamp from Andorra
Après un timbre très original émis l'an passé imprimé avec un effet miroir (thème des livres pour enfants) la principauté d'Andorre (poste française) a émis cette année à nouveau un timbre EUROPA très spécial !
C'est ce timbre qui figure sur le joli souvenir ci-dessous posté le 3 juin 2011 du village andorran d'Arinsal. Merci beaucoup Olivier :-)
Le studio de création M2baz, fondé en 2001 par les 2 graphistes indépendants Julien Martinez et Florence Mekderian, a conçu ce timbre spécial (tirage : 90000 exemplaires), mis en page par Stéphanie Ghinéa.
After a very original stamp issued last year printed with a mirror effect (devoted to children's books), the Principality of Andorra (French Post) has issued this year again a very special EUROPA stamp !
It's this stamp that appears on the nice souvenir below mailed on June 3, 2011 from the Andorran village of Arinsal. Thank you very much Olivier :-)
The studio M2baz, founded in 2001 by the two freelance graphic designers Julien Martinez and Florence Mekderian, has designed this special stamp (printing run : 90,000), formatted by Stéphanie Ghinéa.
Ce timbre autocollant et très épais, émis le 7 mai 2011, évoque ainsi la structure de l'écorce d'un tronc d'arbre avec la mention "Boscos" ("Forêts" en catalan) en son centre.
A noter que le (nouveau) logo EUROPA, en haut à gauche, est peu lisible et que la valeur nominale (0,58€) correspond au tarif pour un envoi standard uniquement vers la France, Monaco ou un envoi domestique en Andorre...
This self-adhesive and very thick stamp, issued on May 7, 2011, evokes the structure of the bark of a tree trunk with the word "Boscos" ("Forests" in Catalan) at its center.
To note that the (new) EUROPA logo, top left, is not very clear and the nominal value (€ 0.58) is used for standard shipping only to France, Monaco and Andorra...
Olivier a eu la gentillesse de m'envoyer également, le même jour, le Prêt-à-poster illustré ci-dessus, réalisé spécialement pour l'association Philandorre qui, pour rappel, a pour but de promouvoir et de développer la collection des timbres-poste de la principauté d'Andorre, en particulier par la publication d'études philatéliques et postales.
Philandorre (voir l'adresse internet ci-dessus), dont Olivier est le secrétaire général, organisait son assemblée générale le 3 juin 2011 dans le village et station de sport d'hiver d'Arinsal, situé dans l'ouest de la principauté d'Andorre. Cette AG avait eu lieu à Saint-Louis (Alsace) en 2010.
C'est l'oblitération spéciale émise à cette occasion qui a été apposée sur les 2 lettres ci-dessus !
Le timbre rouge "Blason d'Andorre" à valeur permanente ci-dessus correspond également à l'envoi d'une lettre prioritaire jusqu'à 20g d'Andorre vers la France, Monaco et Andorre.
Olivier was kind enough to send me also, the same day, the illustrated Postal Stationery above, designed specifically for the association Philandorre which aim is to promote and develop the collection of stamps of the Principality of Andorra, particularly through the publication of philatelic and postal studies.
Philandorre (see its website above) has organized its general assembly on June 3, 2011 in the village and winter sports resort of Arinsal, located in the west of the Principality of Andorra. This meeting was held in St. Louis (Alsace region) in 2010.
It's the special cancellation issued on this occasion that was applied on the two letters above !
The permanent value red stamp "Arms of Andorra" above is also used for a priority letter up to 20g sent from Andorra to Andorra, France or Monaco.
Azerbaijan-Mexico joint issue
Le 12 octobre 2010, les administrations postales du Mexique et de l'Azerbaïdjan ont émis un très intéressant bloc-feuillet commun consacré à des sites archéologiques majeurs des 2 pays.
J'ai eu la chance de recevoir récemment les 2 versions de ce bloc-feuillet !

Ce bloc numéroté (56467) évoque donc les 2 sites de Teotihuacan au Mexique et Ateshgah (Bakou) en Azerbaïdjan.
On October 12, 2010, the postal administrations of Mexico and Azerbaijan have issued a very interesting joint souvenir sheet devoted to major archaeological sites of the two countries.
I was very lucky to receive recently the two versions of this souvenir sheet !

This numbered (N° 56467) sheet evokes the two sites of Teotihuacan in Mexico and Ateshgah (Baku) in Azerbaijan.
Les marges incluent différents objets archéologiques retrouvés sur les 2 sites, les drapeaux des 2 pays ainsi que la mention "Mexique-Azerbaïdjan Emission commune" en espagnol et en azéri.
Le site mexicain de Teotihuacan (25 km2), classé au patrimoine de l'UNESCO en 1987, est un site archéologique majeur incluant certaines des plus grandes pyramides construites en Amérique précolombienne. La ville, qui a compté plus de 200000 habitants, a été bâtie en 200 avant JC et a été habitée jusqu'au 6ème ou 7ème siècle après JC.
Le timbre ci-dessus à gauche représente la pyramide de la lune, haute de 46 mètres, située au bout de l'allée des Morts.
La mention "T.I.E.V." présente sur les 2 timbres signifie "Talleres de Impresion de Estampillas y Valores", l'atelier qui imprime les timbres de la poste mexicaine.
The margins include various archaeological objects found on the two sites, the flags of the two countries and the words "Mexico-Azerbaijan Joint Issue" in Spanish and Azeri.
The Mexican site of Teotihuacan (25 km2), a UNESCO World Heritage site since 1987, is a major archaeological place that includes some of the largest pyramids built in pre-Columbian America. This 200,000 inhabitants city was built in 200 BC and was inhabited until the 6th or 7th century AD.
The stamp above to the left is depicting the Pyramid of the Moon, 46 meters high, located at the end of the Alley of the Dead.
The mention "T.I.E.V." included on the two stamps means "Talleres de Impresion de Estampillas y Valores", the company where Mexican stamps are printing.
La version azerbaïdjanaise de ce bloc-feuillet figure sur la lettre recommandée ci-dessus postée de la capitale, Bakou, le 26 mai 2011. Merci beaucoup Mahir :-)
Contrairement au bloc mexicain, celui-ci n'est pas numéroté, les timbres ont été inversés (ainsi que les drapeaux dans les marges) et sont plus grands que les timbres mexicains (la taille du bloc-feuillet étant identique).
La poste azéri a choisi de représenter sur son timbre ci-dessus à gauche le temple Ateshgah (Atəşgah en azéri), ou "Temple du feu", un ancien site religieux hindou (ou zoroastrien ?) situé aujourd'hui dans le district de Surakhani faisant partie de la capitale Bakou.
Ce complexe de forme pentagonale a été construit au 17ème et 18ème siècle, sur un site connu pour son pétrole qui jaillit naturellement du sol, puis a été abandonné en 1883. Il a été transformé en musée en 1975.

Contrary to the Mexican sheet, this one is not numbered, the two stamps are reversed (and also the flags in the margins) and are larger than the Mexican stamps (the size of the souvenir sheet being the same).
The Azeri Post has chosen to feature on its stamp above to the left the Ateshgah (Atəşgah in Azeri) Temple, or "Fire Temple", an ancient Hindu (or Zoroastrian ?) religious site located today in the district of Surakhani, part of the capital Baku.
This pentagon-shaped complex was built in the 17th and 18th centuries on a place known for its oil oozing naturally out of the ground and that was abandoned in 1883. It was converted into a museum in 1975.

Ce 20 janvier 1990, après l'état d'urgence décrété par le président de l'URSS, Gorbatchev, 26000 hommes des troupes soviétiques ont en effet pris d'assaut la capitale azerbaïdjanaise, Bakou, et ont massacré des civils (137 morts, plus de 700 blessés et plus de 800 arrestations sommaires) qui manifestaient pacifiquement.
Mahir has used a third stamp (1 Manat) on the other side of his letter above. This stamp, originally issued in a souvenir sheet on January 20, 2010, commemorates the 20th anniversary of the tragedy of January 20, 1990 in Baku.
On January 20, 1990, after the state of emergency declared by the President of the USSR, Gorbachev, 26,000 Soviet soldiers indeed stormed the Azerbaijani capital, Baku, and massacred civilians (137 dead, more than 700 injured and more than 800 summary arrests) who demonstrated then peacefully.
