Swiss EUROPA 2011 stamp
Ma collection de timbres EUROPA 2011 croît petit à petit !
C'est au tour de la Suisse aujourd'hui avec ce joli timbre à 1 CHF ci-dessous, émis le 5 mai 2011, conçu par l'artiste bernoise Bea Würgler.
Merci beaucoup Vural pour cette lettre postée le 6 juin 2011 du village suisse de Geuensee :-)
La mention "Wälder" ("Forêts" en allemand) dans la marge de feuille nous rappelle le thème retenu par PostEurop en 2011 à l'occasion de l'année internationale des forêts.
A noter que le nouveau logo EUROPA (la forme du 'R' semble peu conforme ?) est inclus en bas à droite sur ce timbre, pour la 2ème année consécutive puisque la poste suisse était la seule à l'avoir déjà utilisé l'an passé...
My EUROPA 2011 stamp collection is growing slowly !
It's now the turn of Switzerland today with this nice stamp (CHF 1.00) below, issued on May 5, 2011, designed by artist Bea Würgler from Bern.

The word "Wälder" ("Forests" in German) in the sheet's margin is reminding us the theme chosen by PostEurop in 2011 at the occasion of the International Year of Forests.
To note that the new EUROPA logo (the shape of the 'R' does not seem conventional ?) is included at the bottom right on this stamp, for the second consecutive year as the Swiss Post was the only one to already use it last year...
La forêt, fournisseur exceptionnel de matières premières, joue un rôle important en Suisse où elle recouvre 31% du territoire (30% de feuillus, 70% de résineux).
Avec ce timbre, la poste suisse a voulu, en particulier, rappeler que la forêt constituait l'écosystème le plus productif sur terre, influençant le climat, produisant de l'oxygène et captant le dioxyde de carbone.
Ce timbre pourrait évoquer le besoin en lumière (photosynthèse) dont ont besoin les arbres, en particulier au coeur des forêts où les arbres sont plus nombreux à être dépourvus de branches...
Vural a complété son affranchissement avec un timbre à 40c, émis le 26 mai 1983 pour commémorer le 150ème anniversaire du canton de Bâle-Campagne (Basel-Landschaft).
Ce canton est en effet né en 1833 de la séparation du canton de Bâle (qui faisait partie de la Confédération suisse depuis 1501) en 2 cantons, Bâle-Campagne et Bâle-Ville.
Le canton de Bâle-Ville n'a curieusement pas eu droit à son timbre pour ses 150 ans ??
The forest, an outstanding supplier of raw materials, plays an important role in Switzerland, where it covers 31% of the territory (30% hardwood, 70% coniferous).
With this stamp, the Swiss Post wanted, in particular, to remind that the forest is the most productive ecosystems on Earth, influencing climate, producing oxygen and capturing carbon dioxide.
This stamp could evoke the important role of light (photosynthesis) needed by the trees, particularly in the heart of the forests where trees are more likely to be free of branches...
Vural has used another older 40c stamp, issued on May 26, 1983 to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the Canton of Basel-Country (Basel-Landschaft).
This Canton was indeed born in 1833 after the separation of the Canton of Basel (which was part of the Swiss Confederation since 1501) in two new Cantons, Basel-Country and Basel-City.
But why no stamp was issued for the 150 years of the other Canton of Basel-City ??
