It was announced this afternoon that Nicole Scherzinger has officially replaced Cheryl Cole on the judging panel for Fox’s ‘The X-Factor’. She joins Simon Cowell, L.A. Reid and Paula Abdul in the hunt for another “global superstar” or group who is ultimately up to win a $5 million dollar recording deal.
Nicole has previously joined Cowell as a guest judge on The X Factor for the UK version of the show in 2010. She had filled in for Cole, who was a U.K. judge, too.
Cole was originally announced as part of the show’s U.S. judging panel last month, participated in early judging rounds, then was seemingly booted off. Over the last few days, however, news emerged that she was being offered another role on the show. What went down next is the subject of some dispute, but one U.S.-based executive involved in the matter tells EW that Cole “wasn’t quite herself” during her four days of filming, potentially due to nerves or just feeling out of her environment with the new show.
Some reports made it sound like U.S. producers basically booted Cole from the show because they were unhappy with her performance. Our source says it was more consensual. “After the Chicago auditions, producers suggested she might be happier returning to the UK panel and her management clearly indicated she’d be happy to consider that,” a source told EW. “It wasn’t meant to be the case she was being fired. She was offered an alternative [to work on the UK version] for more money where they thought she might be happier.”
It’s unclear what role Cole will play, if any, on the U.S. version.

Paris Hilton’s new reality show on Oxygen that she has been heavily promoting for the last month debuted to what sources call “disastrous” ratings. Rather than blame herself and her boring life, Paris is pointing the finger at the network who gave the heiress her own show.
“Paris is furious that the show didn’t premiere at the time it was supposed to,” an insider tells me when speaking about ‘The World According to Paris.’ “She worked her tail off doing promotion and publicity for the show and then because of a technical mistake, the show aired at a completely different time in a lot of markets.”
A representative from the network denies that there were any glitches in her premiere episode.
“The show premiered at 10 p.m. on Wednesday, June 1 as was promoted,” an Oxygen spokesperson told me in a statement. “There were no technical mistakes. We look forward to a very exciting run of the series.”
This week’s episode brings together Paris and Charlie Sheen’s ex, Brooke Mueller, whose ongoing substance abuse struggles will be addressed. The rep said this week’s episode with feature Brooke’s “cry for help.”
Her busy week of promotion also included a rough interview on ‘The View,’ where Barbara Walters and Whoopi Goldberg grilled the socialite on the frivolity of her show. She reportedly flipped out backstage and got into a shouting match with a producer. In short, it was a disaster and she canceled events because of it.
“Paris’ second season on that MTV show where she found a new friend was a disaster and she hasn’t been able to sell a magazine cover since the Kardashians arrived,” a TV insider tells me. “If the numbers remain less then the 400,000 that tuned in last week she could get pulled off the air.”
By comparison, the March debut of singer Aubrey O’Day’s show drew 724,000, and 1.7 million viewers tuned in for the premiere of the most recent installment of ‘The Bad Girls Club.’
“This could be the last nail in the coffin,” a senior marketing manager tells me. “She has been replaced by Teen Moms and Snooki. She would have been better off not doing a new reality show at all then doing one that proves no one cares.”
I didn’t watch the show. In all honesty, I couldn’t care less what Paris is up to. I won’t even waste the space on my DVR. Were you one of the five people who watched it? What did you think?
She’s beautiful no matter what!
Okay, okay… we just blogged about Kim Kardashian learning to use sign language for the purpose of cheating in our last blog… and how E! implied that she’ll do anything to get anywhere.
But whatever the multi-millionaire reality star is doing… well keep doing it (I guess), because Kim K. just landed yet ANOTHER magazine cover. And this time, it’s the July 2011 issue of Cosmopolitan magazine in Australia!
Kim blogs about her cover:
My July cover issue of Cosmopolitan Magazine in Australia just came out! I love this cover!!
Are any of you guys from Australia? I love Australia and hope I’ll get to go back some time soon! I had such an amazing time on my last trip.
I must say, she looks hot (as always) in this, what it seems to be, a mini peacock-inspired bodice dress.
But wait a minute! According to Perez Hilton, Kim’s photo is from an OLD shoot taken a year or so ago! Perez says on his fashion blog Coco Perez:
Kim Kardashian is on the front of Cosmo Australia and this time they’ve recycled her cover from a non-Cosmo shoot!
The photo from the July issue was snatched from the reality star’s Prestige magazine spread. The image was published almost a year ago, but Cosmo made it their own by simply flipping Kim.
We’re also LOL-ing at the text placed between her arm and boob.
Well, at least we know that Kim is okay with recycling!
