H.G. Sankarshan das Adhikari, USA: Sunday 30 January 2011--Survive and Thrive in Hell--and--No Obstacles Greater That We Can Handle?A daily broadcast of the Ultimate Self Realization Course(tm) Sunday 30 January 2011 The Supreme Personality of Godhead, Lord Sri Krishna, and His eternal consort, Srimati Radharani are enjoying transcendental pastimes in the topmost planet of the spiritual world, Sri Goloka Vrindavan. They are beckoning us to rejoin them. Our Mission: To help everyone awaken their original Krishna consciousness, which is eternal, full of knowledge and full of bliss. Such a global awakening will, in one stroke, solve all the problems of the world society bringing in a new era of unprecedented peace and prosperity for all. May that day, which the world so desperately needs, come very soon. We request you to participate in this mission by reviving your dormant Krishna consciousness and assisting us in spreading this science all over the world. Dedicated with love to ISKCON Founder-Acharya: His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, our beloved spiritual master, and to you, our dear readers. Today's Thought: Survive and Thrive in Hell Uploaded from Bhaktivedanta Ashram--Austin, Texas USA What does a devotee do when all hell breaks loose in his life and things become completely haywire, completely unmanageable? Such times when the soul is on trial are the most opportune times for making spiritual advancement. Therefore those who are learned in transcendental knowledge do not become devastated in such calamitous circumstances. Rather they become enlivened by the increased facility such circumstances offer for taking complete shelter of the Lord. In this way those who are wise survive and thrive even in the most hellish of circumstances. Sankarshan Das Adhikari Answers According to the Vedic Version: Question: No Obstacles Greater That We Can Handle? Dear Gurudeva, In the 29 January 2011 message you said that Krishna will never give us an obstacle which is greater than what we can handle. Please help me understand this, as I often find my current troubles to be quite overwhelming. Also could you please direct me to any scripture where this is confirmed? Thank you in advance. Hare Krishna, Mahendra Answer: Krishna's Unlimited Causeless Mercy It is simply a matter of understanding Lord Sri Krishna's unlimitedly compassionate nature. The scriptures describe as follows in Srimad Bhagavatam 10.14.8 how a devotee deals with reverse situations: tat te 'nukampm su-samksamno bhuñjna evtma-krtam vipkam hrd-vg-vapurbhir vidadhan namas te jveta yo mukti-pade sa dya-bhk My dear Lord, any person who is constantly awaiting Your causeless mercy to be bestowed upon him, and who goes on suffering the resultant actions of his past misdeeds, offering You respectful obeisances from the core of his heart, is surely eligible to become liberated, for it has become his rightful claim. So this is the key how to access the unlimited bliss of pure devotion. One simply has to have firm faith that in all circumstances Krishna is bestowing His causeless mercy upon His devotee to give him exactly what he needs for coming to the sublime transcendental platform of pure bhakti as soon as possible. It is situated at 60/14 Gouri Bari Lane Kolkata 700004, a fairly quiet street away from the hustle and bustle of what is now a very different Kolkata. This is where Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati launched his preaching movement, the Gaudiya Matha. The sign reads “This historical monument belongs to: International Society for Krishna Consciousness Founder Acarya His Divine Grace AC Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada Trespassers will be prosecuted Its not in good condition at the moment but apart from one remaining tenant, the whole property is now in ISKCON’s possession. In a few weeks the property will be declared a National Heritage site which will preserve it for future generations, in its original features. It can of course be renovated but it will have to retain its original architectural appearance. It was a wonderful meditation to think about the young Abhay Caran De ascending to the roof to discuss with the powerful guru and visionary Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Goswami and receive the seeds of his future world-wide mission. • Email to a friend • • H.H. For two of those days a team of devotees from Sydney, led by Sri Prahlada, took to the stage and shared the holy names with the crowd in the form of the Mahamantra. It took a while each day for the crowd to warm up but eventually many people felt the need get up and dance to the trancendental sound of the kirtan. Sri Prahlada took time to explain to the crowd the various instruments being used, harmonium, mrdanga, etc. He also explained the purpose of chanting krishna’s names in order to cleanse the heart and reduce anxiety and suffering, and cultivate our spiritual nature. Sharing the lead with Gitanjali Devi Dasi Prahlada explained that bliss would result from participating in the chant. From the faces of the dancers you can see that this was clearly the case. At the end of the on-stage concert the devotees formed a harinam party and weaved a ribbon of joy through the crowd of over 30,000 people attending the event. Many danced spontaneously as the Harinam party passed by and some folllowed along, unable to pull themselved away from the experience. Overall the crowd responded with great joy upon hearing the the sound of the drums, kartals and harmonium and the chanting of Hare Krishna. A whole new generation of young people had the seed of the Mahamantra indelibely printed on their minds and hearts. There is so much to see and learn in Sri Dhama Mayapur. One of the thing that makes my heart feel like it will come out of my chest, is the loud and transcendental beat of the drums at the elephant procession . It pierces your whole body and goes right through your heart, you feel small and humble hearing those special drums and mantras. • Email to a friend • • ISKCON News.com: Federal Court Suit Challenges School's Teaching of Evolution

I am kidding but isn't the point of Ekadasi to honor the fast, increase our service and enhance our devotional mood. I can understand preparing elaborate offering for the deities but sometimes on Ekadasi it seems that instead of feeding our soul more thought is put into how to feed our bellies. Food for thought.
