Well, sort of… The good news is that today’s S&P/Case-Shiller reports home prices through December 2010. But… looking at the active market as of Friday (February 18) weekly home prices are starting a seasonal bounce:
Altos 20-City Composite is comprised of the same 20 MSAs as the S&P/Case-Shiller Home Price Index. Our 7-day weekly market price observations (black line) are showing a Spring-time bounce that will eventually show in the 90-day rolling average (orange line)
[Shameless plug alert!]
- We called the spring-time bounce in our Q4 webcast back in December (recording & slides).
- The Case-Shiller reported a 3.9% quarter-over-quarter home price decline for Q4, based on transaction prices, while our Altos 20-City Composite showed a 3.6% decline Q4 active market prices. Correlation noted. Of course our Q4 numbers were posted back on 12/29/10 instead of today…
