Dora, Deigo, SpongeBob or iCarly Personalized Labels $5 Shipped – Couponing to Disney

Deals posted in the past 24 hours...

Dora, Deigo, SpongeBob or iCarly Personalized Labels $5 Shipped

Vistaprint has added Nickelodeon character address labels. You can choose from Dora, Deidgo, Spongebob, Wonder Pets, Kai Lan and iCarly. The labels will run you right at $5 shipped.

Here are a few creative ways to use them:

  • As Address Labels
  • As Property Labels (like This Belongs to X or This Book Belongs to X)
  • As Thank You Labels (Thank You, X or From Your Friend, X)
  • Leave Blank and write in what you want each label to say

Here’s how to make yours:

  • Go here and register/log in
  • Select the return address labels in the lower left corner
  • Search for “Nickelodeon” in the return address box that pops up and select the ones you like (choose from Dora, Deidgo, Spongebob, Wonder Pets, Kai Lan and iCarly)
  • Design your label and add it to your cart
  • Be very careful not to add anything else to your cart and select no to all offers. I’ve found that after I add the labels to my cart that I can click on cart in the top right corner and skip all the offers.
  • Your total should be right around $5 shipped for 140 lables
  • I highly recommend that you pay for your order with Paypal to make sure you never see any additional charges on your credit card bill (it’s rare but it does happen; I always use Paypal)
(Thanks Wild for Wags!)

Grow Your Fund Challenge – Day 12

Grow Your Fund is a daily post that gives you a chance to win a gift card by checking in on all the various challenges you are participating in. You can choose to participate in one, two or even all of the challenges giving you even more opportunities to Grow Your Fund!

The Challenges

No Dining Out: The concept is simple, lower your family’s dining out bill and add the money you save to your fund.

Minniemizing for the Mouse: Get in shape for your trip to Disney by walking at least 20 minutes a day, 5 days a week. The average person walks 8 or more miles a day at Disney World. Your feet will thank you!
Not going to Disney? Don’t worry. You can participate too. Just commit to working out at least 20 minutes a day, 5 days a week!

Budget Challenge: Can your family stay on budget this month for groceries, entertainment, dining, etc? Do you think you could even challenge yourself not to spend a dime 5 days this month? Be sure to report on your spending vs your budget every day. The goal is to be able to add the extra money saved at the end of the month to your fund!
*If you haven’t set a budget yet, you might want to check out this post.

Decluttering Challenge: Is your stuff starting to overtake your house? Do you feel like your kids room is full of too much junk and not enough fun? If so, I challenge you to find a new home for just 25 items a day for the next 30 days. This could be 25 articles of clothing, 25 books you no longer read, 25 toys your kids ignore. Have a box for items to donations, a box for items to sell and throw the rest away! At the end of the challenge, have a yard sale and add the earnings to your fund!

The prizes

At the end of each month, I will pick FOUR winners who will each receive $25 to add to their fund. Look for the winners to be announced on the 3rd of each month.

How to enter

Leave a comment with the title of the challenges it is for. You can participate in one, two, three or even all four challenges. There will be one winner per challenge, and winners can win multiple times! It’s all done by using Random.org, so if your number comes up and you are eligible, you win! In order to be eligible to win, you must actively participate in the challenge for at least FIVE calendar days.

My Updates

No Dining: No dining out for us yesterday.

Budget Challenge: I balanced the budget, so I am happy.

Decluttering: Didn’t have a chance to really do anything yet.

Minniemizing: I am doing really good and I can tell that I have lost some weight. My jeans fit a lot better than they did before I got the flu. Woohoo!

No Dining

  • Take a look at your current dining out budget. How much did you spend last month going out to eat? That is money that could have gone into your fund instead! Try cutting your out to eat costs this month and adding the difference to your fund.
  • Set a weekly dining out budget, if you resist going out to eat, add that amount to your fund instead.
  • If you were seriously about to go out to eat (like had your coat on and was going out the door or pulled into the drive thru and then pulled back out), add the amount you would have spent to your fund.
  • Going out to eat and using a coupon or paying with a gift card? You could add that amount to your fund too. For example… if you had a $25 gift card to Cracker Barrel and you used it, you could take $25 cash out of your budget and add it to the fund. Or if you used a $10 coupon, you could take $10 cash out of the budget and add it to the fund.
  • You must challenge yourself. Try to spend less than you spend now. If you don’t go out to eat at all, challenge yourself to try new meals this month. As long as you are challenging yourself when it comes to your family’s eating habits, you can participate!
  • You are allowed 1 freebie meal that you don’t have to count or report back to us about. Please report on everything else though so we can encourage and support one another!
  • Free meals do not count against you. This is a challenge to spend less money going out to eat than you usually spend. If someone else is paying for the meal or you have a coupon to make it free, great!
  • At the end of the month, you will need to comment on the very last post to be entered to win. I will choose the winner from that post and verify that you have commented on at least 5 days worth of posts. The comments must of occurred on 5 DIFFERENT days. Meaning if on the 30th, you commented on that post and then went back and commented on 4 days worth of posts, you would be disqualified. You must comment on 5 different posts on 5 different days.

Minniemizing for the Mouse

  • I need to get fit for the mouse. My feet hurt so bad from all that walking and for once I’d love to experience Disney without being in pain. We are going in November, so I am hoping to make a big lifestyle change between now and then. I can’t do it alone and so I need the help from all of you!
  • Check in each day and report on your progress. The goal is to exercise for at least 20 minutes a day, 5 days a week. For those of us going to Disney, walking for those 20 minutes is a great way to not only get in shape, but prepare our feet.
  • It really doesn’t matter what you do as long as you are moving!

Budget Challenge

  • Everyone needs a budget. Budgets will help you to be in control of your money without your money being in control of you. You dictate where your money goes and how it is spent.
  • Don’t have a budget? I’ve written a few articles that should help you set one… How to Set a Budget and How to Set a Grocery Budget. You’ll find even more helpful advice under Getting Started Couponing and Your Fund.
  • Each day, check in and let us know how much you spent the day before and if you stayed under budget or not. We aren’t here to critique your budget (unless you ask!), but we are here to support you in staying on track!
  • Also feel free to include bargain brags. Did you find a great deal or do something creative to save money, be sure to share it with all of us!

Decluttering Challenge

  • It doesn’t take long for the stuff to start taking over your home. The kids rooms start overflowing with broken, neglected and just plain weird no idea where they came from toys. Your stockpile starts to spread from the kitchen, to the hall, to your bathtub. You start finding that the home for more and more items is the middle of your living room floor. Etc!
  • It can be overwhelming to take on the task of decluttering your home, but the end rewards are so worth the effort. To make the process easy, I challenge you to find just 25 items every day to find a new home for. Get a box labeled donations, one labeled to sell, and one for trash. Go through 25 items a day and either put it in one of the 3 boxes or find a new permanent place for it.
  • At the end of 30 days, you will have an organized home and you can have a yard sale to add more money to your fund!
  • Be sure to post every day that you have gone through your 25 items and found a new home for them. Don’t just put them back where they don’t belong.

Good luck!

Disney World Training: Car Rental Services

Do you need a car rental?  Typically when I travel to Disney World, I use the Magical Express to from the Orlando International Airport to my Disney-owned resort.  Once at my resort, I use Disney transportation to get me from one park to the other. I find that since I am often times no good at using a GPS or reading a map that using the Disney transportation is much more relaxing while on vacation.  Even though I do not like standing in line waiting for the bus, it is very nice to not accidentally find that I have driven outside of the Disney property, looking for what seems an eternity for a way to turn around!  However, there are many times when I travel to Disney World that I have made plans to go to Universal Studios or Legoland and must rent a car.

How I find my rentals: I always use a website such as Priceline to see which of the companies has the best deal for my dates of travel.  Once I know which company offers the best price here, I then go to their own website to book the rental when I can get the same price or a better one by using any available coupons as the one offered by Priceline.  I like to do this because rentals, once booked, are not refundable when booked through Priceline.

Better Deals? I have always through that the best available deals would be from the airport, as they have higher demands on vehicles leading to lower rates. However, i decided to review a few of the companies located on the Walt Disney World property to see what prices they offer. What I found were better rates from most of the rental car companies. In the end I decided to rent from Enterprise so I do not have to even worry about getting to their car rental facility. (Remember their slogan, “We pick you up!”).  With this in mind, I will take Magical Express bus from the airport to my Disney resort. Once there, I will arrange to get the rental car from wherever it is most convenient for me.

Lesson?  As with everything, research all possibilities so you can make the best decision possible. In this scenario, I will be renting from a company that will bring the car to my location instead of needing to go off the airport property to pick up the best priced car located in/around the airport. This plan just so happened to also help me save quite a bit of money, money I would not have saved if I did not do the research!

Getting Started: Shopping at your local Aldi’s Store

Have you ever heard of Aldi’s? If you haven’t, you are missing out! Aldi’s is a unique grocery store that only carries about 1400 frequently purchased items, the majority being Aldi’s select brands. You won’t find 10 different varieties of cookies in this store, but you will find 1 or 2 at a reduced price.

Aldi’s keeps their overhead low to make sure that you get the biggest discounts as possible. Here are a few things that Aldi’s does that is different:

  • You will need to either bring your own bags from home or you will have to purchase them in the store. You also have to bag your own groceries!
  • You have to deposit a quarter into the shopping cart to ‘rent’ it. You get your quarter back when you return it to the corral.
  • They do not accept credit cards but they do take debit cards and EBTs
  • They do not accept coupons

Here are the things that I always purchase at my local Aldi’s store:

  • Loaf bread
  • Milk – 75c to $1 less than Walmart but it does expire faster
  • Cheese
  • Produce
  • Baking supplies
  • lunch meat

Aldi’s offers a double guarantee on all items they sell. If you aren’t satisfied with a product you had purchased, they will replace it and refund your money. I love that I can shop without having to worry about the quality of a product.

Each week Aldi’s runs an ad from Wednesday to Tuesday. Usually their ad consists of ‘Special Buys’ that are one time deals that Aldi has purchased and offers at a deep discount to their customers.

When I start my weekly shopping trips, I always hit Aldi’s first before going to the other stores. You never know what awesome deals you are going to find!

Go here to see if you have an Aldi’s near you. If you do, I highly suggest you make a special trip to your store to check things out. You won’t regret it!

If you are a regular shopper at Aldi’s, be sure to let me know what your favorite items are!

(Thanks Definitely Deals for your help with this post!)

5 A Day 3.12.2012

A great resource for coupons is by emailing the company directly. You can tell them your favorite things about the product, how you use it, who loves it the most in your family, etc. (If you have a complaint, be sure to be honest with them about your issues. They also appreciate it if you can include the product numbers from the packaging.) And hopefully they will reward you for sharing your opinions by sending you coupons. I NEVER ASK FOR COUPONS.

Instructions on how to do 5 A Day:

  • First you need to download the 5 A Day spread sheet. It contains links to the companies contact pages and a spot for you to write what coupons you received. You might also want to write the date you emailed them. Most companies will send you coupons for your comments about every 6 months.
    5 A Day PDF
    Editable Excel Spreadsheet
    Editable Word Doc
Google Spreadsheet (you should be able to go to File > Download As to save it to your computer)
  • Choose 5 companies to email. I usually try to avoid emailing 5 brands made by the same manufacturer in the same day. (Like emailing Pillsbury, Totino’s, Betty Crocker, etc which are all General Mills brands)
  • Hopefully you will receive coupons in your mailbox within a few weeks.

If you aren’t sure what to say, you can check out my 5 A Day example emails.

This brag comes from my reader Kristin…

Plus don’t forget to send me your brags so I can share it with all the readers!

ING: Get an easy $50 for opening an online checking account (reminder)

How would you like to make an easy $50 for your fund? ING (a bank that I have used for years) is offering a $50 bonus when you open an Electric Orange checking account.

  • Go here and click on Apply Now
  • Open an ING Direct Electric Orange Account. There is no minimum to open the account but you want to put in at least a few dollars so you can make some purchases.
  • You will need to make a total of 3 debit card purchases or Person2Person Payments (or any combo of the two) within 45 days of account opening
  • Your $50 bonus will be deposited on day 50 and ready to withdrawal!

That’s an easy $50 for your fund!

This is also a great place to store your emergency fund. That is what I am currently using mine for. I like that it has a debit card in case I need it in an emergency, but other than that I don’t spend a dime out of that account. I also have it linked to my ING Direct savings account that currently earns 0.79% interest.

ING Direct is an online bank that has very high interest rates (usually higher than you find at a local bank). I have been a member of ING Direct since 2006. I have never had ANY issues and I love being able to earn a good bit of interest on my money. I easily transfer money between my local checking account and ING and it’s all protected! I wouldn’t be telling you about this deal if I didn’t feel fully confident in this bank.

I also have the Orange Checking account that you are applying for. It is really easy to use. Plus the debit card is very snazzy looking!

Plus check out this comment from my reader Mary:

I’ve had an ING account for close to 10 years. Never had a problem and is so easy to transfer back and forth between my ING account and our two checking accounts.

I do want to point out that when you make a deposit, you will have to wait a week to transfer the money back out. But that’s no big deal.

This is one of the many ways you can add cash to your fund. Be sure to see all the ways to earn extra cash. Go here to read to the Getting Started “Couponing to Disney” page.
