How to Make a Picot Edge for a Beaded Cabochon

Picot edges really finish off beaded cabochons well.  Here are a couple of tutorials to show you how it is done. The Art Beads tutorial shows how the picot is made from the brick stitched outer layer.

The Beadaholique video tutorial approaches the picot edge differently as it deals with the foundation and the backing of the beaded cabochon.  This is not just a decorative edge but also hides the edges of the foundation and backing.

The most common number used is 3.  But you can also try 5 bead picots.  I've also see 4 bead picot with the middle two beads in a contrast color.  The result is a slightly offset picot.
