Community

The first section of a Rutgers-designed “self-healing” reef made of custom-designed concrete modules and living oysters has been installed along the shoreline of the Tyndall U.S. Air Force Base in northwest Florida to help protect the base from coastal storms. Read more.

A four-year grant to Rutgers totaling $170,000 from the Ferrero Hazelnut Company is being utilized by Plant Biology associate professor Thomas Molnar and his team to support the development of hazelnut varieties that can resist Eastern Filbert Blight through genetic improvement. Read more.

This promotional product, with innovative blends of cranberries, pumpkin habanero peppers and honey, is used by Food Innovation Center staff to tell the story of its capabilities in helping clients find commercial success for their food-related products. Read more.

Center for Lipid Research Hosts its 9th Symposium

Established and early-career scientists from Rutgers, neighboring universities, and local pharmaceutical and biotech companies, shared their knowledge and insight on the role of lipids in health and disease, and the results of their translational research. Read more.

Rutgers students attended the Norman E. Borlaug International Dialogue at the World Food Prize in Des Moines, Iowa in October. World leaders and experts attend this three-day conference to discuss fighting global hunger. SEBS hosts the NJ Youth Institute World Food Prize competition for high school students on March 7 and alumni are invited to volunteer as judges for the competition. It was a Vibe at Rutgers Homecoming

Scores of SEBS/Cook/CAES/AG alumni attended the SEBS Homecoming Tailgate celebration on Saturday, October 19. Attendees enjoyed a breakfast buffet, free giveaways, and festive reconnection with fellow alumni, SEBS faculty and staff, and Executive Dean Laura Lawson before the noon game vs. UCLA.
