Five Extension professionals with the 4-H Department of Youth Development received national awards at the annual event, while a beloved NJ state 4-H agent was posthumously inducted into the National 4-H Hall of Fame. Read more

Distinguished Professor James Simon, who led the team that bred the first downy-mildew-resistant basil varieties that are now grown worldwide, received the highest honor for his work with his election to the National Academy of Inventors. Read more

Two Rutgers scientists among trio honored with the 2025 Edward A. Flinn III Award, a coveted AGU honor for mid-career or senior scientists who build and maintain the essential infrastructure that allows Earth and space science research to flourish. Read more

Michelle Infante-Casella, agricultural agent and department head, RCE of Gloucester County, earned double recognition as “Woman of the Year” by the New Jersey Farm Bureau as well as a New Jersey Legislative Joint Commendation for her dedication to New Jersey agriculture. Read more

William “Bill” Bamka, agriculture and natural resources agent, joined Rutgers Cooperative Extension of Burlington County in 1996. He has served with distinction and was recognized by the Burlington County Board of Agriculture with the board’s “Distinguished Service Award.” Read more

The USDA-funded FAME program is a unique after-school experience where high school students don’t just learn about science from plant and marine food system scientists—they become active participants in scientific discovery and communication. Read more
