Perhaps now this anti-Israel Rabbi will begin to understand the absolute necessity of a Jewish homeland (but his hate may be too great). I despise the Neturei Karta, as they aid and abet our enemies and work to undermine the survival of the Jewish people.
Israel is essential to the survival of the Jewish people. These self-loathing Jews say that Israel is the problem, when in fact Israel is the answer. Without a homeland, you have nowhere to go -- just ask the six million Jews rounded up across the continent of Europe.
Muslim Jew-haters are no less vicious than the Nazis.
"Anti Zionist Neturei Karta leader beaten by Muslim men in Holland" Your Jewish News, July 24, 2013 (hat tip Ground Zero Mosque)
A leader of the ultra-Orthodox Jewish Neturei Karta group, which is a fierce anti-Zionist organization, was beaten by a group of Muslim men in Holland.
Dutch police said that Joseph Antebi, 50, was attacked yesterday by Muslim men in Amsterdam. According to information obtained by the police, several Muslim men came over to his stopped car, pulled him out from his vehicle, beat him and spit on him. The suspects then fled from the scene.
The rabbi begged passersby for help, but his pleas were ignored.
According to the police report, Antebi called the police and was able to provide cell phone images of the suspects to the police. "Rabbi Antebi is in the hospital and in stable condition. Antebi is suffering from severe pain, nausea and vomiting. He is also suffering from internal bleeding," according to a statement released by Neturei Karta.
However, the group remained defiant in defending radical Islamic militants. “This incident just shows how the Zionist are fanning the flames of anti-Semitism throughout the world,” the group said in a statement
He's a bit of a madman, eh? Troops to Muslim Brotherhood Egypt, troops to Jordan, troops in Africa, arms to jihadists in Libya and to the savages in Syria.

U.S. has secretly provided arms training to Syria rebels since 2012 By David S. Cloud and Raja Abdulrahim, Los Angeles Times LA Times, June 21, 2013 (thanks to Lookmann)
CIA agents and special operations troops have trained the rebels in anti-tank and antiaircraft weaponry in Jordan and Turkey.
WASHINGTON — CIA operatives and U.S. special operations troops have been secretly training Syrian rebels with anti-tank and antiaircraft weapons since late last year, months before President Obama approved plans to begin directly arming them, according to U.S. officials and rebel commanders.
The covert U.S. training at bases in Jordan and Turkey, along with Obama's decision this month to supply arms and ammunition to the rebels, has raised hope among the beleaguered Syrian opposition that Washington ultimately will provide heavier weapons as well. So far, the rebels say they lack the weapons they need to regain the offensive in the country's bitter civil war.
So let me get this straight: filing a water complaint (i.e. drinking water that is making children sick) could be an "act of terrorism," but screaming allahu akbar while mowing down our soldiers on US soil in Fort Hood, Texas is "workplace violence."
Dhimmitude or plum crazy? More of Department of Homeland [In]security's particular brilliance.
Official: Water complaints could be 'act of terrorism' The Tennessean, June 24, 2013 (thanks to yiddy)
A Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation deputy director warned a group of Maury County residents that unfounded complaints about water quality could be considered an “act of terrorism.”
“We take water quality very seriously. Very, very seriously,” said Sherwin Smith, deputy director of TDEC’s Division of Water Resources, according to audio recorded by attendees. “But you need to make sure that when you make water quality complaints you have a basis, because federally, if there’s no water quality issues, that can be considered under Homeland Security an act of terrorism.”
“Can you say that again, please?” an audience member can be heard asking on the audio.
Smith went on in the recording to repeat the claim almost verbatim.
The audio was recorded May 29 by Statewide Organizing for Community eMpowerment, a Knoxville-based civic action group that had been working with Maury County residents to tackle water quality complaints in Mount Pleasant. Residents there have complained to the state for months, saying some children had become ill drinking the water. The meeting was organized by State Rep. Sheila Butt, R-Columbia, and attended by residents, TDEC and local officials.
TDEC said it was looking into what had been said at the meeting and that Smith would not be available for comment.
“In terms of the comments made by a member of the Water Resources Division at the meeting, we are just receiving the information and looking into this on our end,” spokeswoman Meg Lockhart said. “The department would like to fully assess what was said in the meeting. I am told that the meeting was far longer than the audio clip provided by SOCM and that Mr. Smith actually clarified his remarks. But again, we are looking into it.”
The comment shocked and outraged attendees, who saw it as an attempt to silence complaints, said Brad Wright, organizer for SOCM in Middle Tennessee.
“I think it’s just to quash us complicating life for them,” he said.
Joycelene Johns, 68, has lived in Mount Pleasant off and on for about 30 years and has put up with cloudy, odd-tasting water for years.
“I’ll drink it,” she said, “but I pray before the first sip.”
But she said Smith’s comments had been harder to stomach than her drinking water.
“I was sitting there with my mouth open,” she said. “I couldn’t believe he was saying that.” The message she took away was: “Leave us alone. Don’t come back anymore. We’re not going to continue on dealing with whatever problem you may have.”
Rep. Butt, who organized the meeting, also was shocked.
“I think that we need to be very careful with how we use the words ‘terrorist’ and ‘terrorism,’ ” she said. “I thought it was out of context. That did not apply to anything that we were discussing at the meeting.”
Butt said the water issue had been marred by “communication breakdowns” by both sides, which wouldn’t be made easier with such inflammatory comments being made.

More love coming 'atcha from the religion of peace. More than 1,000 people have been slaughtered in Islamic attacks in Iraq in May alone. The continuing 1,400-year-old jihad steamrolls on. It's an internal struggle with external consequences, doncha know?
That's their jihad, what's yours?
"Ten car bombs kill 39 in Iraqi capital" By Kareem Raheem, Reuters, Jun 24, 2013
(Reuters) - Ten car bombs exploded across the Iraqi capital on Monday,
killing nearly 40 people in markets and garages on the evening of a
Shi'ite Muslim celebration, police and medical sources said.
Some of the attacks targeted
districts where Shi'ites were commemorating the anniversary of the birth
of a revered Imam, but there also were explosions in mixed
neighborhoods and districts with a high population of Sunnis.
The
violence reinforced a growing trend since the start of the year, with
more than 1,000 people killed in militant attacks in May alone, making
it the deadliest month since the sectarian bloodletting of 2006-07.
Waleed,
who witnessed one of Monday's explosions in which five people were
killed in the Shi'ite stronghold of Sadr City, described a scene of
chaos: "When the explosion happened, people ran in all directions."
"Many cars were burned, pools of blood covered the ground, and glass from car windows and vegetables were scattered everywhere."
Eight
people were killed in two car bomb explosions in the central district
of Karada, one of them in a car garage. Two car bombs exploded
simultaneously near a market in the western district of Jihad, killing
eight.
Separately, a bomb placed in a cafe in the northern city of Mosul killed five people, pushing Monday's death toll over 40.
Insurgents,
including al Qaeda's Iraqi affiliate, have been recruiting from the
country's Sunni minority, which feels sidelined following the U.S.-led
invasion that toppled former dictator Saddam Hussein and empowered
majority Shi'ites.
Since the
withdrawal of U.S. troops in December 2011, critics say Shi'ite Prime
Minister Nuri al-Maliki has consolidated his power over the security
forces and judiciary, and has targeted several high-level Sunni leaders
for arrest.
Sunnis took to the
streets last December in protest against Maliki, but the demonstrations
have thinned and are now being eclipsed by intensifying militant
activity.
Tell me again what Europe allegedly learned from WWII? Nothing.
If You Can’t Beat ‘Em, Join ‘Em? By Bruce Bawer, Front Page Magazine, June 24, 2013
“Don’t be stupid, be a smarty – Come and join the Nazi Party.” – Mel Brooks, “Springtime for Hitler”
What to do? Late last Sunday night,
a 23-year-old woman in Oscarshamn, a town of 17,000 people that’s about
halfway between Mecca and Medina – sorry, I mean Stockholm and Malmö –
was on her way home when she was stopped by three young men of foreign
origin. “Are you Swedish?” they asked her. When she said yes, they hit
her so hard that she fell to the ground. Then, looking down at her,
lying there at their feet, they said: “Welcome to Sweden. It’s our
country now, not yours.”
The brief account I read of this incident closes with the information
that the police have labeled this a “hate crime.” Gee, ya think?
Presumably there’s no place on their checklists for “soft jihad.”
(Although I’m sure there was nothing soft about the punch that knocked
that young woman to the pavement.)
One thing these “soft” jihadists have going for them is that what
they’re engaged in is, quite simply, so audacious that – unless you’re
prepared to open your mind up to the immense and terrible reality of it –
it can seem almost farcical. “It’s our country now, not yours”? It has
the absurd ring of a pathetic claim made by some schoolyard punk. Except
that those three punks in Oscarshamn aren’t alone. They’re certainly
far from the first of their kind in Europe to make such an arrogant
pronouncement. And as the years go by, that bold assertion, echoed
increasingly in the streets of a growing number of European towns and
cities, comes ever closer to being the plain and simple truth.
It may be that that 23-year-old woman would’ve known better than to
walk home alone late at night if she were living in certain parts of
Stockholm or Malmö, but that she assumed it was still safe in
Oscarshamn. Perhaps she figured: well, it won’t be safe here in five or
ten years, but for now…?
This is the current European calculus. I’m reminded of a gay guy I
met in a West Hollywood bar one night in the mid 1980s. He had, he told
me, recently moved to L.A. from New York. “Why?” I asked. I was stunned
by the fatuity, the deadly self-deception, of his reply. He had left New
York, he said, to get away from AIDS: “It’s not so bad here yet.”
I’m also brought to mind of the Australian writer Nevil Shute’s haunting 1957 novel On the Beach, which
became a 1959 film starring Gregory Peck and Ava Gardner. Fallout from a
nuclear war has killed almost everybody on earth, leaving alive just a
few million people in the southern hemisphere – in Australia, New
Zealand, and at the southern tips of South America and Africa – who can
do nothing but wait for the air currents to do the inevitable job of
bringing the radiation their way, too. Over the course of the novel, one
by one, from north to south, the cities of Australia die out. The film
is splendid, but the novel paints an even more haunting portrait of the
human race helplessly facing its own extinction.
Of course, the difference between Shute’s characters and real-life Europeans today is that the latter aren’t helpless. They could act. But they feel helpless. They hear the cry ring out, in one place after another: “It’s our country, not yours.” And how do they respond?
Last week three news stories neatly summed up the ways in which all too many Europeans are responding. From Brussels came the report
that the European Parliament is expected to act in a few days to lift
the immunity from prosecution that Marine Le Pen enjoys as a member of
that body. Why? So that she may be put on trial for criticizing Islam. A
British Tory member of the European Parliament, Sajjad Karim, spoke out
in favor of the measure, explaining that there’s “a red line between
freedom of speech and inciting racial hatred.”
What exactly did Le Pen, head of the French National Front, say to
bring on this effort? In a December 2010 speech, she observed that the
sight of masses of Muslims spontaneously taking over streets and
blocking traffic in order to pray together – a spectacle that is
increasingly familiar in Paris and other French cities, and that is
destined to become an everyday event in other European cities before
very long – recalled the Nazi occupation of France. “There are no
armoured vehicles, no soldiers, but it is an occupation all the same and
it weighs on people,” Le Pen declared. It is for this bit of
truth-telling that she now faces the prospect of a trial
That’s one way, then, to respond to the jihadists’ victory cry – to
haul their opponents into court. Another approach is to keep the critics
of jihad from entering your country in the first place. On Friday the
BBC reported
that British officials – who for years have refused to deport any
number of high-profile advocates of Islamic terrorism, and on multiple
occasions have allowed the most atrocious of foreign-based jihad
apologists (such as Yusuf al-Qaradawi) to sully their shores – were
appalled at the news that Islam critics Pamela Geller and Robert Spencer
planned to come to Britain to speak at a June 29 event in memory of
jihad victim Drummer Lee Rigby. Home Secretary Theresa May, the BBC
noted, was considering denying Geller and Spencer entry into the U.K.;
Home Affairs Committee Chairman Keith Vaz, describing them as
“incendiary speakers,” made the usual fraudulent, fainthearted noises
about the “incitement of hatred.”
In such ways do the leaders of today’s Europe strive to be perfect
dhimmis, smoothing the way for their successors. Yet for many of them
dhimmitude is insufficient, for they’re all too aware that, in the eyes
of those whom they’ve labored so mightily to appease, they’ll always
remain, in the last analysis, infidels. And there’s only one way to
overcome that lamentable condition and thereby rescue oneself from (at
best) an inevitable second-class status in the ever-advancing caliphate.......

Here is a summation of the past year, a turning point backward in human history, from Dr Ashraf Ramallah, President of Voice of the Copts and SION Board member:
Morsi’s one-year anniversary: Can Egyptians turn back the clock?
The January 2011 uprising
“Islam
is the solution” was the magic slogan reprocessed by the Egyptian
Muslim Brotherhood in January 2011 to ride protestors as angry Egyptians
rose up, fed-up with a dictator who planned to hand the country over to
one of his corrupted sons.
For
Westerners, democracy was blossoming with an Arab Spring; for Egyptian
secularists, intellectuals, and overall, the Copts, disaster of tsunami
proportions was approaching from the East. Wahhabi, Salafi, Jihadi --
you name it. Copts in the Diaspora viewed this as part of the 1,400 year
old reality of the Arab-Muslim invasion of an ancient, civil society.
Two years of chaos 2011-2013
As
Egyptians know, the Muslim Brotherhood (MB) began their ascent during
2011 protests when the MB took control of the uprising upon Mubarak’s
collapse. Shortly after, Supreme Council of Armed Forces (SCAF), the
interim authority with temporary power to operate and protect Egypt,
shared their privileges with the rising MB hoping in return to gain
access to MB power and privilege connected to foreign backing.
Ultimately, the SCAF and MB partnership betrayed the Egyptian people by
their irrepressible greed and neglect of the country’s welfare.
If
one can put aside foreign interests active in helping the MB to attain
political power including tainted elections (the cheating, bribing,
blocking), Morsi arrived to office by the will of the people. Of course
many Egyptians did actually vote for the promises of change made by
Morsi and his Freedom and Justice Party, and after more than thirty
years of dictatorship and corruption by Mubarak, it’s no wonder that
false promises proved to have a positive effect on Morsi’s election
results. Overall, it was easy and logical to promise improvements and
capture votes.
Egypt’s
constitution was nullified due to the fall of President Mubarak.
Tensions erupted between SCAF-MB and Egyptian freedom-fighters regarding
the writing of a new one. SCAF and MB insisted on first holding
parliamentary elections certain that the outcome would be an Islamists
majority in a position to select the 80-person assembly needed to create
an Islamic Shariah-compliant draft. When this occurred, it was given
its seal of approval through a nationwide referendum vote.
Morsi’s
ultimate power-grab clinched him dictator status – devastating to
Egyptians and raising questions throughout the free world eager to see
movement toward democracy in the early months of Morsi’s term. The Morsi
executive office mandated that every decision made by him would remain
uncontested and considered law. He dismantled SCAF, fired many media
heads, and dismissed the Minister of Defense and the Attorney General --
replacing all with the MB or their sympathizers. Egyptian judges still
struggle against Morsi’s ongoing attacks of the courts to remove and
replace them with his favored trustees. Egypt’s conventional media is
controlled by the regime; social networks remain free and as yet
uncensored.
The Wahhabi Muslim Brotherhood Project (The Project) – A sinister plan to destroy Egypt’s identity
A
plan in place by foreign allies of Egypt, namely, Saudi Arabia and
Qatar, along with the MB of Egypt had been on hold for some time waiting
for Morsi to establish total power.
The
plan, referred to as The Project, specifically targets ancient Egyptian
non-Islamic culture that characterizes Egypt and brings tourism to the
country in order to devalue and destroy it over time.
If successful, Egypt turns backward erasing both modern and ancient aspects for the sake of a medieval religion. However,
Morsi is now in a panic over his imminent downfall. He and his MB have
accelerated the implementation of their “dream” project producing a show
of good faith to their partners. To this end, Morsi appointed a new
culture minister and has heard the country’s negative reaction. His
appointee is inexperienced and inappropriate.
On
a mission to systematically expunge Egyptian culture, Culture Minister
Allaa Abdel-Aziz immediately set about removing heads of cultural
institutions around the country (accomplished through rumors, false
accusations and dismissals) and replacing them with MB members who take
orders.
The
idea of the government of Qatar taking an interest in leasing the Great
Pyramid served to gauge citizen reaction to the concept of foreign
ownership. Public suspicion spread about a hidden agenda stemming from
The Project, an absurd endeavor underway thought to be politically and
economically unsound to all but Morsi and the MB. However, this proposed
transformation of Egypt to Bedouin values will have legislation to back
it up in due time if Morsi is allowed to go unabated.
Morsi is bracing for civil war clashes on June 30
Morsi’s
one-year term was enough to sink his popularity to the bottom along
with his MB-backers. Now, more than ever, Egyptians recall the
Brotherhood’s long history of murder and destruction which included the
tragic Cairo arson of 1952. Never hesitating to inflict humiliation,
beatings and torture in order to influence and grab power, the
formidable MB clenched the support of an estimated 20 percent of the
voting population until now.
The
MB organization and its henchmen have proven hatred for the country
many times over since empowerment in 2011, committing in plain sight
actions counter-productive to Egypt’s infrastructure in favor of
building an Islamic nation. Formerly willing to give the MB a chance at
governing, Muslim Egyptians seem to have abandoned their foolish hopes.
Morsi
himself is now certain his days are numbered. The tide has turned
against him. Egyptians have decided to topple him if a petition
circulating does not succeed in removing him on June 30th. The Tmarud
(Rebellion) group has collected 15 million signatures (so far)
requesting Morsi’s resignation and new elections to be held. Civil war
drums now beat in Egypt’s streets reminiscent of Syria as demonstrations
are planned.
Freedom-fighters
(secularists, intellectuals, Copts and others) are pitted against the
MB, its sympathizers, and its militia consisting of more than 110,000
fighters. Al Shater, VP of El-Morshed (spiritual guide of the MB) and
former presidential candidate, exploits this figure to threaten
Egyptians, which may even increase with an influx of Hamas soldiers.
Morsi
is securing a safety net with June 30th in mind. He has contracted the
construction company, Al Mukawleon Al Arab, to build and install
concrete barricades to be placed in all streets and avenues in vicinity
of the Presidential Palace. Furthermore, sources indicate that Morsi is
meeting with jihadist terrorists from Hamas to address the creation of a
special force to deal with June 30th protestors. Meanwhile, Morsi has
replaced more than half of the governors of cities and towns around the
country with MB members and bureaucrats strongly tied to them.
Egyptian Muslim Brotherhood lose an important ally – The Salafi
Morsi
and the MB have now lost the support of the Salafists retaliating
through this crisis for past deceptions and failed agreements with the
MB.
According
to statements issued by Salafists, the Salafis will withdraw their help
(moral support as well as military) and remain on the sidelines for the
upcoming June 30th protests. However, this is less likely to weaken the
Morsi-MB position against protesters than to beef up enthusiasm from
the Egyptian people.
The
suffering masses who have endured much look forward to the “promised
day” of protests they hope spells doom for the MB and Morsi. Egyptian
citizens are projecting strength, not fear, and will not scare easily
from the MB which has insulted their nation. For Egyptians, the lack of
Salafi cries of unfairness toward the idea of Morsi’s dismissal bolsters
them and reads as encouragement to come out against the Morsi regime.
Meanwhile,
in the remaining days leading up to Morsi’s one-year anniversary, the
only thing left for the panicky MB to do -- squirming in anticipation of
its appointment with such a credible threat -- is to intimidate and
shout childish accusations as a deterrent. Time will tell.

Islamist Musa Cerantonio: Pentagon A Legitimate Target; Islam Of Muslims More
Dear Than That Of Western Victims MEMRI
Following
are excerpts from a lecture by Australian Islamist Musa Cerantonio which was
posted on the Internet on April 29, 2013:
Musa Cerantonio: "The
military headquarters of the U.S.A. is in the Pentagon. In Islam, if a plane
happened to fly into the Pentagon – would they be considered innocent or not?
They are not innocent. These are the ones who plan the wars on Islam. Yet you
find Muslims responding by saying that 9/11 was forbidden. Ask yourselves. I am
only giving you what Islam says. I'm not saying anything. Ask yourselves.
Forget their financial center [The World Trade Center], which, according to
many scholars, is also a permissible target. As for the one [attack] on the
Pentagon – even if a Muslim happened to be there that day – is it now
forbidden?" [...]

More of the poisonous fruit from Obama's surrender to the Taliban: "The story of the hopeful future of an Afghanistan that stands on its own

"Exodus: Afghan Diplomats Defect as Western Withdrawal Nears" By Hasnain Kazim, Speigel, June 24, 2013(thanks to Lou)
The situation in Afghanistan is becoming increasingly precarious that Afghan
diplomats no longer want to return to their homeland. Up to 100 foreign
service employees set for rotation back to Kabul from assignments abroad
have now defected.
A total of 105 Afghani diplomats were meant to report for duty at the
Foreign Ministry in Kabul on Saturday. They were being rotated out of
their foreign postings as scheduled, and it was time to return to
headquarters. Yet just five of them have resurfaced. The others have
apparently remained in the countries where they had been posted, among
them several employees of the Afghan Embassy in Berlin.
Sources at the Afghan Foreign Ministry have informed SPIEGEL ONLINE
that embassy staff members have said they would apply for asylum in
their respective host countries or at least apply for an extension of
their service until the presidential election in spring 2014. "They are
hoping that there is more clarity about the future of our country by
that point," said an employee of the ministry. "I feel as though there
has been an exodus. No one wants to return to Afghanistan," said the employee, who added that they couldn't be faulted for wanting to stay away from
"the situation in the country."According
to recent surveys, most Afghans believe the country will sink into
chaos and violence and expect that civil war will break out once Western
forces withdraw at the end of 2014. For months, the Taliban and various other ethnic groups have been arming themselves in preparation for a fight for power in the country.
The Fiction of a Bright Future
Many Afghan diplomats are the sons and daughters of high-ranking
politicians who are also trying to go abroad as soon as possible and
stay there until the situation in Afghanistan becomes clearer.
International foundations and organizations that organize educational
trips and conferences for Afghans abroad have also become more cautious
recently. They know that more and more trip participants will disappear.
It is said in Kabul that several Afghan teachers never returned from a
trip organized recently by the German government. And a high-ranking
official from the Afghan Foreign Ministry called home during a trip to
Canada to say that he wouldn't be coming back.
"I can confirm this trend," says Tinko Weibezahl, the head of the
Kabul office of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation. "In recent months some
of our most qualified contacts have left the country. The refugees are
above all "the highly educated, who were much more optimistic about the
future a year ago," Weibezahl says. Government ministers, lawmakers and
senior military officials are also attempting to get their families out
of the country.
The story of the hopeful future of an Afghanistan that stands on its
own two feet, that is safe and peaceful and democratically governed, "is
just a story that the West likes to tell us," says a senior official
from the presidential palace in Kabul. "This story has just one catch:
Most Afghans don't believe it."
As you know, the invaders and their leftist lapdogs are on a jihad to get Robert Spencer and me banned in Britain. It is a shock to those who are paying attention. Imagine, the country of the Magna Carta Libertatum or The Great Charter of the Liberties of England would consider banning two human rights activists whose body of work is founded on the freedom of speech, freedom of conscience and individual rights. The Magna Carta led to the rule of constitutional law. It was the the model for the legal structure of the American colonies.
Robert Spencer was on the BBC last Friday morning, after he saw that they were planning to
discuss the attempt to bar us from the U.K. without
bothering to ask either of us what we thought about it. He wrote back:
"How typical of the BBC to discuss this without giving us a chance to
defend ourselves." To our shock and delight, the producer then asked him to be on the show.
Here is what happened -- is it any wonder that the media blacklists freedom activists like Spencer and me? Every time we appear, millions hear the truth and our ranks multiply. Spencer hits it out of the park.

Friday: when the host asked me for some objectionable Qur'an verses. I
supplied a few, and then the host asked an imam about them. The imam was

It's to laugh. And to hear the whole thing, go here.

Finally, a rational response to the endless intimidation and thuggery.
For those who don't remember, McDonalds had to pay $700,000 in a lawsuit alleging a Detroit-area McDonalds restaurant "falsely advertised its food as
being prepared according to Islamic dietary law." It sounded like a set up to me -- who inside McDonalds told the litigious Muslim that his $700,000 sandwich
might not be halal?
There was "no evidence that MacDonalds was trying to deceive their customers."
McDonald's drops halal food from U.S. menu By Niraj Warikoo, Detroit Free Press

After a contentious lawsuit, eatery yanks two chicken items at two Detroit-area locations popular with Muslims.
- Only two McDonald's in U.S. sold the halal products
- Plaintiffs claimed that McDonald's falsely advertised food as halal
- Lawsuit was settled for $275,000 in April
DETROIT -- There have been only two McDonald's restaurants in the U.S. that have offered halal food. Both were in east Dearborn, Mich., which has a sizable population of Arab-American Muslims.
But
after a contentious lawsuit that accused the restaurant chain of
selling non-halal items advertised as halal, McDonald's has yanked its
Halal Chicken McNuggets and Halal McChicken sandwiches off the menu. The
move brings to an end a unique product that made the two McDonald's
restaurants popular with Muslims.
"Those
items have been discontinued as a result of our continued efforts to
focus on our national core menu," a spokesman for McDonald's said
Friday.
At one of the two restaurants, the Ford Road location, a
sign in Arabic and English on its drive-through menu informs customers
that halal items are no longer available. The decision to discontinue
the products after a 12-year run drew a mixed reaction in Dearborn: Some
were disappointed, while others said it was a good move because
McDonald's had problems before with selling halal food.
The
removal of the halal items, which was done last month, comes after a
lawsuit filed in 2011 alleging that the fast-food restaurant was selling
non-halal chicken it claimed was halal. Halal is the Muslim equivalent
of kosher, requiring that meat be prepared according to Islamic
guidelines, such as reciting a prayer while the animal is cut. In some
cases, employees at the Ford Road location were mistakenly giving
non-halal products to customers who asked for halal ones.
A $700,000 settlement was reached in April that
allocated $275,000 to the Huda Clinic, a Muslim health center in
Detroit; $150,000 to the Arab American National Museum in Dearborn, and
$25,000 to Ahmed Ahmed, a Dearborn Heights man who filed the lawsuit
against McDonald's. The rest went to attorney fees.

McDonald's
denied any wrongdoing in the settlement agreement, which made no
mention of stopping the sale of halal food. Some Muslims didn't like the
settlement, saying the money should have gone to individual customers,
not organizations.
Kassem Dakhlallah, the attorney who filed the
lawsuit, said Friday that the company's decision to stop selling halal
food is "disappointing." He said that McDonald's should have tried "to
ensure that all products sold were halal as advertised."
But, he added, if McDonald's couldn't guarantee that, "then ceasing to offer halal products was probably the best decision."
Majed
Moughni, who had opposed the settlement, said the decision by
McDonald's to end the sale of halal items "was the right thing to do."
After pressure from attorneys with McDonald's, Moughni's free-speech
rights were curtailed after Wayne County Judge Kathleen Macdonald
clamped down on his Facebook page, which was critical of the company's
handling of the case. The judge later lifted her injunction against
Moughni after free-speech advocates defended him.
"If you can't
get it right 100% of the time, then you're doing a disservice to the
community," Moughni said of the company's handling of halal food. "Stop
it if you can't guarantee it."
McDonald's, which has more than
14,000 restaurants in the U.S., started selling halal products for the
first time in the country at its location on Michigan Avenue near
Greenfield in September 2000. It followed with the McDonald's on Ford
Road east of Schaefer. In 2000, about 65% of sales of Chicken McNuggets
at the Michigan Avenue location were for the halal version.
Although
McDonald's has discontinued selling halal products in the U.S., it
still sells halal food in Muslim-majority countries such as Saudi
Arabia.
We will be speaking at Woolwich on Armed Forces Day.
DEFENDING THE WEST
Goons & haters: Ban freedom fighters
Exclusive: Pamela Geller blasts demonizing of patriots who oppose Islamic jihad
If you had told me that 12 years after 9/11, patriots and freedom
lovers who are dedicated to opposing the ideology behind those attacks
on the homeland (and more than 21,000 deadly Islamic attacks worldwide
since) would be demonized, dehumanized and the object of a campaign to
get us banned from an allied nation, I would have had you Baker Acted. It could only be the result of insanity or – defeat.
And yet that is exactly where we are. Robert Spencer and I are scheduled
to join other members of the president’s council of the international
human rights coalition, Stop Islamization of Nations, or SION – the
English Defence League leaders Tommy Robinson and Kevin Carroll, and
Stop Islamisation of Europe, or SIOE, leader Anders Gravers – on June 29
for a Memorial for Lee Rigby in Woolwich. Rigby was the British soldier
who was beheaded by Islamic jihadists in Woolwich on May 22.
But now, Islamic supremacists and leftist thugs are strong-arming
British authorities to ban us. Jihad preachers, hate-spewing imams,
annihilationists and Muslim Brotherhood groups like CAIR travel freely
to the U.K. But defenders of freedom are besieged by goons.
And Labour MP Keith Vaz, chairman of the Home Affairs select
committee, told the Huffington Post U.K. that the “Home Secretary should
consider using her discretion to ban these two speakers from entering
the country.” Vaz is a notorious subversive and has been promoting a
vicious agenda for decades. It was reported back in 1995 that “Vaz was secretly taped saying he ‘wanted to create an Asian (Muslim)
colony’ in an area of Leicester, and complaining that not enough Asians
were moving in and not enough whites moving out. ‘They (the whites)
will know when to move out … they’ll get a visit from the men in grey
suits, hahaha.’”
Vaz is still chairman of the Home Affairs select committee despite being under the cloud of numerous ethics violations, and there are numerous calls for him to be suspended. According to the Daily Mail,
the British Parliament’s Committee on Standards and Privileges “found
that Mr Vaz had committed ‘serious breaches’ of the MPs’ code of
conduct, as well as a contempt of the House of Commons.”
A few years ago, Vaz led a march of thousands of Muslims in Leicester
calling for the banning of Salman Rushdie’s book, “The Satanic Verses.”
He has even demanded that “Islamophobia” – that is, honest discussion
of the jihad threat – be prosecuted as a “hate crime.”
This attempt by goons and fascists to have us banned is one to watch. Check out Jessica Elgot’s coverage in the Huffington Post U.K.
She calls Spencer and me “far-right, anti-Islam activists.” So now
freedom is the bailiwick of the far right? It is interesting how the
morally inverted mind perverts and subverts reality. Actually, I
consider myself a classic liberal – freedom of speech, freedom of
conscience and individual rights for all before the law – constitutional
law. As for the “anti-Islam” label, Elgot must be pro-jihad, because
that is exactly what she is implying by smearing our work for freedom as
“anti-Islam.”
Elgot goes on to say: “The EDL also plan a 17-mile ‘Walk of Honour’
led by Robinson and deputy leader Kevin Carroll. A post about the event
suggests that the two men plan to march through
multicultural areas where tensions could be easily inflamed.” Kowtowing
to violent intimidation. Elgot blames Tommy Robinson and Kev Carroll for
the violence that she and others assume will happen if they walk down
the street.
Yet if any violence ensues, it is the responsibility of the ones who
commit it, and no one else’s. The responsibility for one’s actions lies
with the one who acts and no one else. Islamic supremacists and their
allies in the mainstream media are trying to get us to accept the idea
that we are responsible if Muslims riot and kill and blame what we say.
Yet there is nothing you could say to me that would make me riot and
kill. The responsibility is theirs, and they are the only ones who
deserve condemnation.
Elgot obviously sanctions the violence and “inflammation” that would
result if Tommy and Kev merely walk down the street. Elgot, a less than
affable Eva Braun, is on the wrong side of history (as are most in her
increasingly sordid profession). Hers is a prime example of the banality
of evil.
