Someone once told saxophonist Branford Marsalis that he was great, and Marsalis responded by saying that if someone wanted to hear greatness, listen to John Coltrane in Stockholm in 1960.
And he was right.
In the Islamic State, the jihadis are beheading journalists. In the United States, journalists want to behead me. And Mayor de Blasio is ululating right behind them.
The NY Post’s Jennifer Fermino, whose coverage of our campaign has been nothing short of incendiary, called me for comment. This journalistic flamethrower asked me for a comment after reading me Mayor de Blasio’s lengthy statement condemning the AFDI ads.
I said, “The Mayor has bigger fish to fry. The Islamic State and al Qaeda have recently vowed to attack this city. They issued a fatwa. They called for Muslims in America, ‘lone wolves,’ to attack the city. They printed instructions in their glossy magazine. And when the future caliph was released from a U.S. detention center in Iraq, he warned his former captors, ‘I’ll see you in New York.’ Why isn’t Mayor de Blasio talking tough to the jihadists instead of to the defenders of freedom? He called our ads ‘intolerant’? Beheadings are intolerant. Ethnic cleansing of non-Muslims and religious minorities under the Sharia is intolerant. Islamic Jew-hatred is intolerant. Honor killings and clitoridectomies are intolerant. De Blasio’s attack on free speech is intolerant.”
As far as de Blasio’s “better, loftier and nobler view of humanity” goes, let me caution him: tolerance when applied to evil is a crime.

More media coverage of groundbreaking campaign. The media insists that opposing jihad is “anti-Islam”:

NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) – Starting next week, 100 buses and two subway stations will display anti-Islam advertisements despite efforts by the Metropolitan Transportation Authority to block them.
The organization known as the American Freedom Defense Initiative, which has posted similar ads in the past in New York City, Boston and Washington, D.C., reportedly paid $100K for the campaign.
This time around, the posters feature slain American journalist James Foley on his knees next a photo of an Islamic State terrorist.
Another ad reads: Support Israel, Defeat Jihad.
A total of six ads will be posted with two going up at the 59th St- Columbus Circle Station and the 59th St Station.
A judge ruled in favor of the American Freedom Defense Initiative saying the ads were protected by the First Amendment.
“We review every viewpoint ad under the standards, but a series of court rulings has made clear that our hands are largely tied,” said MTA media Liaison Amanda Kwan.

 Anti-Islamic ads will begin appearing on a hundred New York City buses and at two subway entrances next week. The six ads include an image of American journalist James Foley, just before he was beheaded, standing next to his masked executioner.
The ads are paid for by the American Freedom Defense Initiative run by anti-Islam blogger Pamela Geller. She says the campaign tells truths about Islam and Jihad that the U.S. government and mainstream media ignore.
All the ads feature a disclaimer that says the viewpoints are not endorsed by the Metropolitan Transportation Authority.
Under a federal court ruling, the agency is required to run viewpoint ads. But the MTA requires a disclaimer.
The American Freedom Defense Initiative has posted ads on New York’s transit system in the past that called enemies of Israel “savages.”
Do you oppose blasphemy laws, female genital mutilation, laws forbidding non-Muslim men to marry Muslim women, the death penalty for apostasy, Islamic Jew-hatred and other sharia offenses against human rights? Then you could get accused of blasphemy and shot dead in Pakistan. But in the U.S., they won’t shoot you dead — at least not yet. They’ll just assassinate your character, accusing you of “hatred” and “bigotry” and “flamethrowing.”

A Pakistani academic known for promoting liberal views on Islam has been shot dead by gunmen – two years after being accused of committing blasphemy in a speech he made in the US.
Dr Muhammad Shakil Auj, Dean of the faculty of Islamic Studies at the University of Karachi, was attacked by two gunmen on a motorbike as he was making his way in his car to a function at the city’s Iranian cultural centre. A junior teaching colleague was also hit and suffered an injury to her arm.
“A bullet pierced through his head, proving fatal,” senior police officer Pir Mohammad Shah told the Associated Press. “We are investigating the killing. It would be premature to state the motive at the moment.”

The message is getting out to the people.
Our ads are designed to raise awareness about the need for Muslims in the US not just to denounce ISIS, but to teach young Muslims why this understanding of Islam is wrong and must be rejected.
If the Islamic State is not Islamic, what is it? How did this misunderstanding of Islam become so widespread? Why are so many more US and UK Muslims than ever joined al Qaeda joining the Islamic State?
And while Muslims in the US condemn the Islamic State, where are they teaching against the ideology that gave rise to it?
Right now, nothing is being done to stop jihad recruiting in US mosques, even as several hundred young Muslims from the US have gone to wage jihad for the Islamic State.
If the moderates really reject extremism, let them show it by instituting genuine programs to teach against this view of Islam.

The NY Daily News headline screams, “Shocking anti-Islam ad campaign coming to MTA buses, subway stations.” Shocking? Shocking is beheading journalists with six-inch knives. Shocking is kidnapping hundreds of non-Muslim girls, gang-raping them and selling them at slave markets. Shocking is one million Christians being ethnically cleansed or slaughtered from Syria. They want to keep the Christians ignorant and subservient. But Obama say, They have legitimate grievances!

Ankawa (AsiaNews) – For the first time in history, Iraqi Christians who always had a “high standard of education” in the region, are being deprived of the right to study and cannot attend schools. This represents a further threat to the survival of the minority, not only in Iraq but throughout the Middle East, because there is not the risk that an entire generation “will not be educated”, which is a “very bad sign”. The warning comes from Msgr. Shimoun Emil Nona, Chaldean Archbishop of Mosul, in the north, the second most important city in the country and first city to fall into the hands of the militia of the Islamic State.
Interviewed by AsiaNews, the prelate confirms that “currently children from many of the refugee families” as well as “children who live in Christian areas” cannot start the school year. “There are about 700 schools scattered between Erbil, Ankawa and Zakkho – he explains – but they are hosting displaced people and are full. In other non-Christian areas the lessons have begun, but not here”. Moreover in the areas occupied by the Islamic Caliphate the curriculum has been changed to promote Islam and the Koran.
