FFAP Congress in Metz, France
Après Tarbes en 2009 et Paris en 2010, le 84ème congrès de la FFAP (Fédération Française des Associations Philatéliques), ainsi que le championnat de France de philatélie, était organisé cette année dans la ville de Metz du 10 au 14 juin 2011.
La poste française a, comme de coutume, émis à cette occasion un très joli timbre créé et gravé par Claude Andréotto consacré à ce congrès et à Metz.
Depuis 2005 (congrès de Nancy), la poste a pris l'habitude d'émettre un timbre avec une vignette attenante, ce qui est encore le cas cette année !
C'est ce timbre qui figure en haut à droite sur le très joli souvenir "1er Jour" de Metz ci-dessous. Merci beaucoup Joël :-)
After Tarbes in 2009 and Paris in 2010, the 84th Congress of the FFAP (French Federation of Philatelic Associations), and also the French Philately Championship, was organized this year in the city of Metz from 10 to 14 June 2011.
The French Post has, as usual, issued at this occasion a beautiful stamp, designed and engraved by Claude Andréotto, devoted to this Congress and to Metz.
Since 2005 and the Congress of Nancy, La Poste is issuing a stamp with an attached vignette, which is still the case this year !
It's this stamp that appears in the upper right on the great FDC souvenir from Metz below. Thank you very much Joël :-)
Ce timbre et sa vignette représentent des monuments emblématiques de la ville de Metz, préfecture du département de la Moselle (région Lorraine).
On peut y voit en effet la cathédrale Saint-Etienne, construite entre 1220 et 1522, surnommée la "lanterne du bon Dieu" à cause de sa surface impressionnante de vitraux (6500 m², un record en France !).
A noter que l'intérieur de cette même cathédrale faisait déjà partie du carnet de 12 timbres (émis le 18 avril 2011) consacré à l'art gothique...
A droite sur ce même timbre figure le temple neuf protestant d'architecture rhénane, inauguré en 1904 par l'empereur allemand Guillaume II.
Une vignette LISA dessinée par Stéphane Humbert-Basset, évoquant les 100 ans de l'hôtel des Postes de Metz, a également été émise pendant ce congrès. Deux exemplaires figurent sur la lettre ci-dessus associées à 2 oblitérations différentes, une évoquant ce 84ème congrès et une évoquant l'exposition philatélique trilatérale SAMOLUX 11 (Sarre-Moselle-Luxembourg).
This stamp and its coupon are featuring some emblematic monuments of the city of Metz, the Prefecture of the department of Moselle (Region of Lorraine).
We can indeed see the St. Etienne Cathedral, built from 1220 to 1522, nicknamed the "Lantern of God" because of its impressive stained-glass surface (6,500 m², a record in France !).
To note that an inside view of this same Cathedral was already part of a booklet of 12 stamps (issued on April 18, 2011) devoted to Gothic Art...
To the right on the same stamp is depicted the Rhine architecture's Protestant Temple Neuf, inaugurated in 1904 by German Emperor Wilhelm II.
A LISA ATM stamp designed by Stephane Humbert-Basset, devoted to the 100 years of the Central Post Office of Metz, was also released during this Congress. Two LISA are included on the cover above associated each with two different postmarks, one evoking the 84th Congress and the other devoted to the trilateral philatelic exhibition SAMOLUX 11 (Saar-Moselle-Luxembourg).
Comme vous pouvez le constater, cette 1ère lettre ci-dessus a, à nouveau, été massacrée lors de son passage à la PPDC de Metz-Nord (38267A) où une oblitération mécanique a été apposée :((
Mme Eslinger, encore bravo et toutes mes félicitations pour votre récente Légion d'honneur que vous n'avez décidément pas volée !! GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR !!!!!!!!!!!!
Heureusement, ce même timbre était également mis en vente anticipée les 10 et 11 juin 2011 à Paris au Carré d'Encre. Joël a eu la gentillesse de m'envoyer cet autre souvenir de Paris ci-dessus, sans oblitération superflue :-)
Le timbre à date "1er Jour", conçu également par Claude Andréotto, représente la Porte des Allemands, un vestige de l'ancienne enceinte médiévale. C'est ce même édifice qui figure sur la vignette attenante au timbre.
As you can see, the first letter above was, once again, disfigured when it passed through the Mail Platform of Metz-Nord (38267A), where a mechanical cancellation has been applied :((
Fortunately, this same stamp was also issued in preview sale on 10 and 11 June 2011 in Paris at the "Carré d'Encre. Joël was kind enough to send me the other FDC souvenir from Paris above, without any superfluous cancellation this time :-)
The FDC postmark, also designed by Claude Andréotto, depicts the "Porte des Allemands" ("Germans Gate"), a remnant of the old medieval walls. This is that same building that is featured on the attached vignette.
EUROPA 2011 stamps from Slovenia
Comme de coutume, la poste slovène a émis cette année (le 27 mai 2011) deux timbres dans le cadre de la série EUROPA consacrée cette année aux forêts.
Ces 2 timbres sur fond vert figurent en haut à droite sur la splendide lettre ci-dessous postée le 6 juin 2011 de la capitale Ljubljana. Merci beaucoup Petra :-)
Chaque timbre a été émis en feuille de 8 timbres + 1 coupon comme celui attaché au timbre à 0,92€, incluant le logo officiel de l'année internationale des forêts. Ce timbre représente le pin de Sgerm (vieux de plus de 300 ans), situé sur la commune de Ribnica na Pohorju (nord du pays), considéré comme le plus haut pin d'Europe centrale avec ses 61,8 mètres !
L'autre timbre de la série au tarif permanent 'D' (lettre prioritaire vers l'international soit 0,44€) évoque le hêtre (Fagus sylvatica), un des arbres les plus courants en Slovénie (30%) et en Europe en général.
As usual, the Slovenian Post has issued this year (on May 27, 2011) two stamps in the EUROPA series devoted this year to forests.
These two stamps on a green background appear in the upper right on the beautiful cover below mailed on June 6, 2011 from the capital, Ljubljana. Thank you very much Petra :-)
Each stamp was issued in a sheet of 8 stamps + 1 coupon like the one attached to the € 0.92 stamp, including the official logo of the International Year of Forests. This stamp depicts the Sgerm's Pine Tree (older than 300 years), located in the town of Ribnica na Pohorju (northern country), considered as the tallest Pine Tree of central Europe with its 61.8 meters !
The other stamp in the series including the 'D' permanent rate (International priority letter, € 0.44 currently) evokes a Beech Tree (Fagus sylvatica), one of the most common trees in Slovenia (30%) and Europe in general.
Petra a complété son affranchissement avec 3 autres émissions (toutes émises également le 27 mai 2011) dont un splendide bloc-feuillet à gauche dont je reparle plus bas.
Le timbre à 0,92€ évoque les championnats du monde d'aviron qui auront lieu cette année sur le lac de Bled (pour la 4ème fois depuis 1956). Il s'agit de l'évènement sportif le plus important organisé en Slovénie en 2011.
L'autre timbre (0,77€) fait partie de la très intéressante série de la poste slovène consacrée à la mythologie, à la créature "Povodni Mož" (l'homme de la rivière) cette fois. Dans la tradition slovène, ce personnage est connu pour sa traîtrise n'hésitant pas à noyer les gens, ce qui est alors considéré comme une forme d'enlèvement...
Petra has also used above three other stamps (also all issued on May 27, 2011) including a beautiful souvenir sheet to the left about which I will speak below.
The € 0.92 stamp is about the 2011 World Rowing Championships to be held this year on Lake Bled (for the fourth time since 1956). This is the largest sporting event held in Slovenia in 2011.
The other stamp (€ 0.77) is part of the very interesting series of the Slovenian Post devoted to Mythology, to the creature "Povodni Mož" ("Water Man") this time. In Slovenian tradition, this character is better known for his treacherousness, for drowning people, which is considered as a form of kidnapping...
Le bloc-feuillet (timbre à 1,33€), inclus sur la lettre de Petra, commémore le 160ème anniversaire de la naissance du violoniste, professeur et chef d'orchestre Johann Gerstner (1851-1939).
Ce bloc, conçu par Karel Zeman, constitue en fait une émission commune avec la poste tchèque, seulement la 2ème émission commune de la poste slovène (avec un autre pays uniquement) depuis 1991 !
J'ai eu également la chance de recevoir le timbre tchèque ci-dessus (détaché de son bloc) sur ce joli FDC avec oblitération "1er Jour" de Žlutice, la ville de naissance de Johann Gestner.
Après des études au conservatoire de Prague, Gerstner s'installe à Ljubljana en 1871 où il devient professeur de violon. Aujourd'hui tombé dans l'oubli, Gerstner a influencé plusieurs générations de violonistes en Slovénie.
Les blasons des villes de Žlutice et de Ljubljana (la ville où il est inhumé) figurent dans la marge supérieure de ce bloc-feuillet incluant une impressions mixte taille-douce/Offset.
A noter que la version slovène de ce bloc a été imprimée en France par Cartor Security Printing.
The souvenir sheet (€ 1.33 stamp), appearing on Petra's cover, is commemorating the 160th anniversary of the birth of violinist, teacher and conductor Johann Gerstner (1851-1939).
This sheet, designed by Karel Zeman, is in fact a joint issue with the Czech Post, only the second joint issue by the Post of Slovenia (with only another country) since 1991 !
I also had the opportunity to receive the Czech stamp above (detached from its sheet) on this nice FDC with a postmark from Žlutice, the birthplace of Johann Gestner.
After studying at the conservatory in Prague, Gerstner moved to Ljubljana in 1871 where he became a violin teacher. Too often forgotten and brushed aside today, Gerstner has influenced several generations of violinists in Slovenia.
The coats of arms of the towns of Žlutice and Ljubljana (the city where he is buried) are included in the top margin of this souvenir, mixed intaglio/offset printed.
To note that the Slovenian version of this sheet was printed in France by Cartor Security Printing.
