Digital Content Specialist

The Office of Communications seeks an experienced, innovative digital content specialist to oversee the process of publishing content on the agency’s public website and to effectively manage, maintain, and develop the website and intranet. CBO’s digital team supports the agency’s mission by developing, executing, and managing successful online strategies and strives to make the agency’s work more accessible. The digital content specialist will serve in a project management role on the close-knit team and will be responsible for helping to shape and execute the strategic direction for the agency’s digital communications in support of the agency’s mission and in close consultation with management and key stakeholders. The digital content specialist will: Oversee day-to-day operation and maintenance of the website and intranet, ensuring accuracy of online content. Develop and manage processes and schedules for updating and refreshing site content. Develop constructive relationships with CBO staff across the agency, particularly the editing and information technology staff, and work closely with key stakeholders to develop and execute online communications strategies. Develop and manage processes to regularly track and analyze key digital metrics. Propose, develop, and evaluate initiatives to utilize new and existing technologies to enhance CBO’s online presence and to make CBO’s work more accessible to a broad audience – including Members of Congress, Congressional staff, researchers, and other members of the public. Possess a deep respect and appreciation for public service and a strong understanding of and interest in current economic and public policy issues. Qualifications Candidates must have: Minimum of 5 years of experience managing and developing websites; managing and developing intranet sites is a plus. Bachelor’s or advanced degree, preferably in communications or public policy, or equivalent experience with a passion for all things digital. Superior project management, communications, interpersonal, and organizational skills.  Must have proven track record successfully overseeing complex digital projects from start to finish and doing what it takes to get the job done. Proven experience meeting tight deadlines, taking initiative, and delivering high-quality customer service. Extensive experience working in Drupal and SharePoint and strong CSS, HTML, and JavaScript skills are preferred.  The successful candidate will not be afraid to write code and should have a solid understanding of responsive design. Experience managing text-heavy publishing sites is preferred. Candidates must also: Be well versed in digital best practices and plugged into emerging trends in the ever-changing digital space. Be able to work effectively with staff at all levels and, in particular, must be comfortable working in teams. Be flexible to work evenings and weekends, if necessary. Be able to demonstrate that they are qualified to help take CBO’s digital capabilities to the next level.
