The Budget Analysis Division seeks an analyst to work in its Projections Unit, which is responsible for developing, coordinating, and reporting on CBO’s baseline budget projections and for producing other documents, including cost estimates for proposed legislation.
The following are among the projections analyst’s wide-ranging responsibilities:
• Assist in the preparation and use of budget databases;
• Prepare and review material for CBO’s major recurring reports on the budget and economic outlook, the President’s annual budget request, and other topics;
• Prepare cost estimates for proposed legislation; and
• Respond to inquiries from the Congress and the public.
CBO’s analysts work closely with key Congressional staff members as the Congress prepares its annual budget plans, considers the President’s budget proposals, and evaluates the budgetary effects of legislation. Staff members often have significant involvement in budget and legislative processes.
