Health Economist

The Congressional Budget Office is a small nonpartisan agency that provides economic, policy, and budgetary analysis to the Congress. The Health, Retirement, and Long-Term Analysis Division (HRLD) is seeking a health economist to contribute to a variety of projects, analyses, and modeling.

Applicants must have a Ph.D. in economics or a related discipline, or a master’s degree in those disciplines along with at least three years of relevant experience. In addition, applicants should have experience in health policy analysis, either as a student or through employment. They should have strong quantitative skills, experience using large data files, and an in-depth knowledge of at least one programming language. Substantial knowledge of the institutional details of health care programs is highly desirable.
