CBO’s Budget Analysis Division seeks a manager to direct its Scorekeeping Unit, which prepares cost estimates for the 12 annual appropriation laws. That unit also assists the House and Senate Committees on Appropriations as they develop legislation, and it tabulates the costs of enacted legislation for the House and Senate Committees on the Budget. In addition, the unit produces an annual report,  Expired and Expiring Authorizations of Appropriations  .  CBO is looking for a leader who can manage and motivate a highly skilled staff, help them develop professionally, and encourage collaboration both inside and outside the organization.

Among the unit chief’s responsibilities are the following:

• Organize, supervise, and evaluate the group’s work to ensure high-quality, nonpartisan analyses and estimates, often within tight deadlines;
• Act as CBO’s principal liaison to the appropriations committees; and
• Supervise the unit’s work related to CBO’s annual analyses of the President’s budgetary proposals.
