CBO seeks an attorney to fill the position of Counsel, one of four attorney positions in the Office of General Counsel.

The Counsel assists the General Counsel and Assistant General Counsels in providing legal advice to CBO’s management and staff about a broad range of legal issues in a fast-paced and complex environment. The Counsel interprets and analyzes legislative proposals, advises on areas of the law addressed in the cost estimates and reports prepared by CBO for the Congress, and provides formal and informal advice in all areas of law affecting CBO’s operations, such as appropriations, ethics, personnel and employment, procurement, and intellectual property. In performing those duties, the Counsel has contact with government officials at various levels, the private bar, members of the public, and Congressional staff.
