The Congressional Budget Office, the nonpartisan agency that provides budgetary and economic analysis to the U.S. Congress, is seeking to fill a leadership position with responsibilities for managing and directing analyses of labor markets, education, and income security programs.

Applicants must have a Ph.D. in economics or a related discipline and at least seven years of relevant experience (or a master’s degree and at least 10 years of experience), a proven track record as a researcher and project manager, and considerable experience analyzing employment and income security programs.

The Information Resource Management and Technology Services Unit, which is in the Management, Business, and Information Services Division, seeks a summer intern with a strong work ethic to be part of a 15-person information technology (IT) group performing computer support and related assignments. Duties include installing hardware and software, troubleshooting and resolving problems, and working on special projects.

  

CBO seeks a Chief Economist to provide analytic leadership across the full range of economic issues considered by agency. The Chief Economist further provides managerial support to the leaders of the Financial Analysis Division; the Health, Retirement, and Long-Term Analysis Division; the Macroeconomic Analysis Division; the Microeconomic Studies Division; the National Security Division; and the Tax Analysis Division.

Applicants must have a Ph.D. in economics, with at least 10 years of research experience and 5 years of managing research. Experience and skill in helping others think through issues in policy analysis is paramount. Applicants must be strong leaders with the interpersonal skills to work effectively with many stakeholders in the Congress, in the professional and academic communities, and within CBO.
