The ideal candidate is interested in public policy; experienced in applied industrial organization, market design, or a related field of economics; creative in applying and adapting insights from those fields to public policy applications; and able to explain complex concepts clearly and intuitively to a broad audience. It is strongly preferred that candidates have a Ph.D. in economics or a closely related field; however, CBO may consider candidates with a master’s degree who have more than five years of market-design experience that demonstrates an equivalent capacity to a Ph.D.
