CBO’s Financial Analysis Division seeks an applied economist to use cutting-edge economic concepts and empirical techniques to model and analyze policy changes and to write reports and working papers about those analyses, enhancing the transparency of CBO’s work. The economist will support CBO’s mission by researching a wide variety of topics and providing assistance to analysts who make cost estimates of related legislation.

The candidate must have a graduate degree in finance, economics, or a related quantitative field, as well as significant experience in applied economics, such as in applied econometrics or industrial organization. Advanced knowledge of statistical software programs such as Stata, SAS, R, MATLAB, and Python is essential.
