The Energy, Climate, and Environment Unit conducts research and analysis on topics of interest to the Congress, including the effects of climate change, climate change policy, and related energy and environmental issues. Recent analyses have focused on the effects of climate change on the nation’s economic output, channels through which climate change affects the federal budget, and analyses of climate change policies in the electric power and transportation sectors. In the coming year, the unit will expand its capacity to model the effects of climate change and climate change policy on the budget and the economy.
Applicants must have either a Ph.D. in economics (or a related discipline) or a master’s degree with five years of relevant experience. They should have strong quantitative and modeling skills; preference will be given to candidates with experience modeling energy markets or systems that are important sources of climate change–related emissions.
