The Congressional Budget Office, a nonpartisan agency that provides economic and budgetary analysis to the Congress, is ranked as one of the best places to work among small federal agencies. CBO is seeking a controller to serve as a senior financial adviser to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and within the Office of Financial Management (OFM).
The controller oversees the development, management, and execution of the accounting and audit operations of OFM’s strategic financial plan and also develops and implements policies, procedures, and instructions issued by the CFO and other authorities. The controller advises the CFO and other stakeholders on CBO’s financial management, including its audit and internal controls, and leads other OFM and administrative staff as needed to meet those requirements. The controller oversees the preparation of CBO’s annual financial statements and related audits, as well as internal control program reviews to track and monitor identified gaps or weaknesses and recommend corrective action.
