 Orders are due this week for tie-dye t-shirts!
Your family can make their very own Blythe Park tie-dye t-shirts at the Ice Cream Social to be held on Friday, September 20th. Short sleeve t-shirts are $15.00 and long sleeve t-shirts are $17.00. Just a reminder, all Blythe Park students in grades 2 through 5 will take a test called Measures of Academic Progress (MAP) this week and next. 4th and 5th Graders will be taking the test this week (9/9) and 2nd and 3rd will take the test next week (9/16). Make sure your 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th graders get lots of sleep and good breakfasts during the test window!

We’ve launched it - a year full of fun activities for your children! The PTA kicked off with the Skydome Planetarium Assembly on the first full day of school. Kids got to relax inside a giant inflatable dome and watch the stars projected above. Ask your child how they liked it!
We received it - a check from Target for $1,200 last week. An awesome fundraising start to the new school year. Thank you to all the friends and families of Blythe Park who continue to shop at Target to benefit our school.

Summer Contest Winner
Congratulations to the O’Donnell family who won the summer Box Top contest by turning in 2,289 Box Tops for Blythe Park! Thanks to all that participated in bringing in a total of over 2,700 Box Tops – that’s over $270 towards our goal of $1,200!
 New Year Long Program - “Race for Box Tops”
Even though that contest is over, the fun is just beginning. As in the past, we will have year-long contest to reward classes for collecting Box Tops. This year, we will be having a “Race for Box Tops.” The Blythe Park PTA will be taking a new approach with the contest this year. Instead of having monthly class room contests with a monthly prize for the class that submits the most Box Tops, the new contest has each class working to reach various prize levels throughout the entire school year. Each time a classroom reaches a designated level, the entire class earns a prize. And everyone at Blythe Park will be able to track the progress as the classes Race around Blythe Park on the “Race for Box Tops” display that will be posted outside the school office soon. See the attached flier for more details and tips for clipping Box Tops. Every class has a chance to win at least one prize throughout the school year, so get in the Race for Box Tops, Blythe Park!
Some reminders and ideas:
- Send your Box Tops in on a regular basis so you don’t lose track of them at home.
- Don’t forget to include your name and class on the bag/envelope with your Box Tops so your class gets credit!
- Don’t forget that Box Tops do have expiration dates – expired Box Tops aren’t honored by the Box Tops for Education team, so they won’t count towards the classroom count either.
- Ask your family, colleagues, and friends to clip for you!
- Go to www.boxtops4education.com to learn more about Box Tops for Education and for information about additional opportunities, such as contests, for earning Box Tops for Blythe Park.
- Watch Happenings for extra earning opportunities, such as the Bonus Box Tops offers currently running at Meijer and Jewel.  Let’s chalk all the sidewalk squares that surround Blythe Park with beautiful artwork! So, come join in the fun!
How does it work? Sidewalk squares can be purchased for $3.00 each. Purchase a family square or one for each member of your family. Squares will need to be chalked with your artistic design on Wednesday, September 18th, Thursday, September 19th or Friday, September 20th. As part of this year’s ice cream social, we will have our very own art gallery on display.
