The Brain Game Challenge for October is Book It! This reading initiative challenges your child to read every day. Teachers will be sending home a reading log this week. If your child meets the monthly challenge, they will receive a certificate for a free personal pan pizza from Pizza Hut AND a Bulldog Brain Games Prize!
Look for the reading log! Happy reading!
The Original Works Art program is underway. Students will be in and out of the art room room to create their keepsakes this week and next. If your child misses their classroom’s date, there will be make-up sessions. Many thanks to the volunteers who are making this program work! Information on submitting additional work will be coming home soon.
Any questions, please contact Riia O’Donnell at riiao@comcast.net.
The District 96 calendars have arrived! For those of you who have purchased a calendar, look for the calendar in your child’s backpack this week.
Have not purchased a District 96 calendar or Blythe Park School directory yet? You still can. Just fill out the attached form and send your payment to the school office. Once payment is received, your calendar and/or directory will be sent home in your child’s backpack.
Any questions, send a note to blytheparkpta@yahoo.com or contact Lisa Gaynor at ltgaynor@aol.com.

The Bulldog Challenge starts this week!
A description of the program as well as the fitness tracking sheet was sent home last week. Students can begin counting their fitness activity points on October 1st. Remember they get 1 point for every 30 minutes of activity, for example, football, soccer, tennis, swimming, yoga, dancing, climbing trees, raking leaves…anything that gets them moving! We encourage all students to particpate! Our first Wellness Wednesday will be October 9th and will feature volleyball! Please contact Jill Glawe, pjglawe@yahoo.com.
If you could not make it last week, this Wednesday, October 2nd our Library/Media specialist Katie Moroney will meet with volunteers from 3:10-3:45pm to review the library procedures. She will be giving an overview of Library Search and Destiny Quest, two programs the children (4th grade and up) are learning to use for their research needs. Come sign-up to read. The kindergartners through third graders love when their parents come to read a Monarch book.
Thanks again for you help!

The first graders are collecting yogurt lids and PopTops. The PopTops will benefit The Ronald McDonald House and the Yoplait yogurt lids will benefit breast cancer. Please drop your donations off at the 1st Grade classroom. Thank you!
