Blythe Park PTA Happenings 01/13/2014

Students at Blythe will have a chance to support the Kanuwloe Community School in Ghana, Africa, supported by the International Needs Networkwww.innetworkusa.org.  Our own, Tim Lupfer will bring needed supplies to the school when he travels to Africa in the coming weeks. A Ziploc bag came home in your child’s backpack last week with info on supporting the school and the supplies they need if you’d like to help.  If participating, your bag needs to be returned by today - Monday, January 13th . This Wednesday is Wellness Wednesday!

Chicago Steel Hockey players and coaches will be our guest!  The Blythe Park night at the Chicago Steel game is coming up next week, so the kids will get a chance to meet some of the players this week!  The winning class of the December Bulldog Challenge will be announced.  Keep tracking your fitness points!

      

Blythe Park PTA’s annual Snowball Dance will be held on Friday, December 24th from 6:30-8:00 pm in the gym. It will be a winter wonderland of fun! Make sure to bring the whole family out to dance a snowy night away! Any questions, contact Sharon Linhart.

Blythe Park School’s night at the Chicago Steel will Saturday, January 25th.  It is mascot night!  The Chicago Steel will be facing the Youngstown Phantom Hockey.  The game time is 7:05pm and tickets will be $7.00 per person. Ticket purchase includes a popcorn.

This year, we have a couple of prize opportunities for high ticket sellers.

Top ticket seller will get a one person ride in the Zamboni

Number 2 and Number 3 ticket sellers will each take 5 friends to the tunnel party prior to the game to high five the players as they enter the ice.

All ticket sellers will be entered into a raffle for a piece of Chicago Steel merchandise.

All students present are invited to sing the national anthem at the start of the game.

To order tickets, go to www.blytheparkpta.org and click on the Chicago Steel logo.  Make your ticket order on-line and then submit payment to the school office in an envelope labeled with your family name.  All ticket orders must be placed by Tuesday, January 21st.

Help earn equipment to support our arts, athletics and academic programs at Blythe Park by clipping & saving your Labels for Education! Simply look for the label on participating brands, clip it out and drop in the “Labels for Education” drop box right outside the office. Please continue to bring in your used ink cartridges, empty chip bags and empty drink pouches. Collection bins are outside the front office. Lisa Gaynor @ 708-442-4509.

Clip the “Support your School” label on the back of the Tyson Project A+ products.  Drop your labels off in the collection bins located outside the office. Each coupon can be redeemed for 24 cents. Check out the program at http://projectaplus.tyson.com/

To continue our recycling initiatives, Blythe Park PTA is now recycle unwanted crayons.  All you have to do is bring your unwanted crayons to school and drop off in the crayon recycling bin located outside the office. Please leave the wrappers on the crayons.

      

Buy any 10 Box Top products and receive a bonus coupon worth 60 Box Tops ($6.00).  Limit one per transaction from January 9th to February 5th.  See attached calendar with coupon.

Have you cleaned out after the holidays?  We want your books (children’s, easy readers, chapters books, novels, fiction, non-fiction, cookbooks, DIY, etc.), movies, educational materials, board games or puzzles (complete, with all pieces).

The Bargain Books & More sale is coming up in the spring and we accept donations year ’round.  The proceeds from this sale benefit the Blythe Park PTA.

Please drop off your items in the box outside the office.  Call Jan Ellen Eckardt at 442-7150 with any questions or to arrange for a pick-up of your items.  More info about the sale coming up in the next few months.
