The March Wellness Wednesday will take place this Wednesday and feature the Olympic sport of Fencing. Tracy Lapshin, from Fencing Sports Club, will be our professional fencing guest. Tracy shares the following about fencing:
- Fencing is one of the four oldest Olympic sports
- Fencing requires emotional and physical control, mental flexibility and split second cunning
- Fencing promotes competition without fighting or accidental contact
Blythe students will learn:
- what the sport fencing is, its equipment and it discipline
- that the thin fencing foil, which they will an opportunity to touch, is bendy with a rubber nub at the end
- that the disciplines of fencing can be translated to everyday life including self-control, outward behavior and weighing alternative options.
Blythe students will play some non-fencing games with a “fencer flavor” but not child will be involved in sword play of any kind. Ask your kids on Wednesday how they liked this interesting Wellness Wednesday experience.
