Want to stop the defiance, disrespect and yelling?
Celebrate Calm Founder Kirk Martin, and his son, Casey, will provide parents and teachers with a dozen  strategies that will eliminate defiance, disrespect, yelling, bullying, sibling fights and more that characterize our homes and classrooms. Kirk provides concrete, practical strategies that work with kids of all ages in everyday situations to:
• Get your kids to listen the first time.
• Stop defiance, disrespect, and yelling.
• Stop whining, tantrums and sibling fights.
• Get kids off video games/screens without a fight.
• Create stress-free mornings, homework time and bedtime.
Bring your family and friends to TWO FREE workshops on Monday, March 31st from 7-9pm in the Hauser Auditorium and Tuesday, April 1st from 9:30-11:30am on the second floor of Township Hall.

Last call for Mixed Bag orders. All Mixed Bag orders are due to the school office by Tuesday, April 1st.
Also, you can now order items that you find online using the Order Form that came with your catalog. If you find something you love online, add it to your order form and it will ship to us with the rest of your order. Don’t forget to take the 20% off those items too!
HERE’S HOW TO ORDER:
· Make sure all contact information is filled in at the top of your order form.
Our fundraiser ID is: 39596
· Print all orders clearly. Double check your item numbers to make sure they are correct.
· Collect money with the orders. DO NOT collect sales tax.
NOTE the special pricing on the Pricing Sheet – we are offering the items at 20% off the catalog price.
· Make checks payable to: Blythe Park PTA
· Turn in all money with a copy of your order form by: March 21, 2014
· Keep a copy of your completed order form to distribute your customer orders in late April!

You are invited to attend the 5th grade art show “Trees of Life”. The Art Show will take place at Ames Elementary School on Tuesday, April 1st from 6:30-8:00pm and will 5th grade artwork from both Ames and Blythe Park. This year’s Adult Social, the Big Bulldog Bash, will be held this Saturday, April 5th from 7:00-10:00pm at the
12th Street Wings in Forest Park. The event will feature appetizers and wristbands for beer and wine, silent auction and raffle. Check out the attached flyer for more details. If you have any questions, please contact Sarah Leone at smrios@sbcglobal.net.

The Bargain Books and More Sale is coming up Friday, April 25th from 3-6pm and Saturday, April 26th from 9am-noon. You want want to miss it. Get ready to stock up for summer reading! There is so much to choose from: we have wonderful children’s and adult books, fiction and non-fition, DIY, cookbooks, games, puzzles and activity books, movies, music and more! Most items are priced between $.50 - $2.00. All proceeds benefit the Blythe Park PTA and all the fantastic year-round programming our kids enjoy each month.
Be sure to stop by the gym after school Friday, April 25th or Saturday morning, April 26th. Tell your friends and neighbors - it is sure to be another fabulous sale!

Bulldog Challenge fitness logs for March are due by this Wednesday, April 2nd. Remember, the class with the highest participation will earn a free day in gym! Mrs. Goletz will also be raffling off prizes to students who turn in their sheets! A special competition for the month of March only, 4th vs. 4th grade and 5th vs. 5th grade. So, make sure your 4th or 5th grader turns in their log.
April logs will be going home in your child’s backpack this week. If you need another log for March, click on the following link: http://www.blytheparkpta.org/?page_id=2760 and you can find one to download.
Blythe Park will be celebrating science during the month of April. The science celebration will have three different cool related science activities:
April 8th, 9th, 15th and 16th-In-class experiments
As part of their science curriculum, each student will be participating in an in-class experiment. Blythe Park PTA has hired High Touch-High Tech to conduct hands-on science workshops for each class. Each classroom teacher has selected a hands on experiment that a scientist from High Touch-High Tech will lead each classroom through. Make sure to ask your children about them.
April 18th-Science Assembly
On April 18th, all the children will participate in “Into the Mousetrap”. This hands-on science assembly will have the students on the stage to understand machines and to create their own right before their eyes. April 24th - Science Fair
Bring out the scientist in your child and be a part of the Blythe Park’s Science Fair to be held at 6:30pm on Thursday, April 24th prior to Spring Open House. Now is the time to start thinking about your science experiment idea. RSVPs are due Thursday, April 17th. Look for all the sign-up details in next week’s Happenings.
Need to Know Details:
Students will conduct their own science experiment at home to either display or demonstrate at the Science Fair. Each student’s display will be set-up on a card table. There will be no judging. Each student will receive a participation award. Students may work individually or in a group of no more than two students. Each participating student will be required to follow the five steps of the Scientific Method and complete and bring the Scientific Method worksheet with their experiment. Participation is optional.

5th to 6th Grade Parent Orientation Meeting - Thursday, April 10th
Parents are invited to attend an orientation meeting to be held in the Hauser auditorium at 7:00pm on Tuesday, April 9th.
5th Grade Games Night - Friday, April 11th
On the way to Hauerland! 5th Graders from Ames, Blythe, Central and Hollywood are invited to spend the evening together getting tho know each other and their new school - Hauser! It will take place on Friday, April 11th from 5:45-8:45pm in the Hauser Cafeteria.
