5th to 6th Grade Parent Orientation Meeting - Thursday, April 10th
Parents are invited to attend an orientation meeting to be held in the Hauser auditorium at 7:00pm on Thursday, April 10th
5th Grade Games Night - Friday, April 11th
On the way to Hauserland! 5th Graders from Ames, Blythe, Central and Hollywood are invited to spend the evening together getting to know each other and their new school - Hauser! It will take place on Friday, April 11th from 5:45-8:45pm in the Hauser Cafeteria.
This Friday, April 11th is a Wacky Spirit Day! It is clash day. Find the clashiest clothes in your closet and wear them to school!
 Treat your kid(s) to a hot lunch and treat yourself to a day off from packing lunches!
The next Hot Lunch Fundraiser is Friday, April 11th the menu will include: slice of cheese pizza, seasonal fruit, cookie and a drink. The cost per child is $5.00. To register your child(ren), go to www.blytheparkpta.org and click on the hot lunch sign-up button located on the right side bar.
If you signed up for Hot Lunch for the remainder of the year, you are all set! No reservations are needed for the remainder of the year. Thanks for supporting the Hot Lunch Fundraiser!
The reservation deadline is Wednesday, April 9th. Reservations will not be accepted after Wednesday. Please make sure to make your reservation by then.

 Blythe Park will be celebrating science during the month of April. The science celebration will have three different cool related science activities:
April 15th and 16th-In-class experiments
As part of their science curriculum, each student will be participating in an in-class experiment. Blythe Park PTA has hired High Touch-High Tech to conduct hands-on science workshops for each class. Each classroom teacher has selected a hands on experiment that a scientist from High Touch-High Tech will lead each classroom through. Make sure to ask your children about them.
April 18th-Science Assembly
On April 18th, all the children will participate in “Into the Mousetrap”. This hands-on science assembly will have the students on the stage to understand machines and to create their own right before their eyes. April 24th - Science Fair
Bring out the scientist in your child and be a part of the Blythe Park’s Science Fair to be held at 6:30pm on Thursday, April 24th prior to Spring Open House. Now is the time to start thinking about your science experiment idea. RSVPs are due Thursday, April 17th. Go the www.blytheparkpta.org and click on the science night button to sign-up.
Need to Know Details:
Students will conduct their own science experiment at home to either display or demonstrate at the Science Fair. Each student’s display will be set-up on a card table. There will be no judging. Each student will receive a participation award. Students may work individually or in a group of no more than two students. Each participating student will be required to follow the five steps of the Scientific Method and complete and bring the Scientific Method worksheet with their experiment. Participation is optional.
Display Board Available
Half-size display boards will be available at the school. PTA has ordered boards and will be offering them to science night participants for the low cost of $2.00. If you are interested in a half-size board, please check that box on your RSVP.

The District 96 Young Author’s books are being displayed on a rotating basis this month at Riverside Public Library. RPL is hosting a reception each Thursday for the authors (and their families) of the books being displayed that week.
The 2014 District 96 Young Author’s Book are on display in the Children / Youth Section at Riverside Public Library. Thursday, April 17 from 3:30 - 4:30 will feature all Blythe Park authors.
 Illinois largest water park, Raging Waves Water park, located in Yorkville is offering a fitness program for kids.
Children are invited to Plunge into Fitness this spring as Raging Waves Water park joins the battle against childhood obesity. The fitness initiative runs now through April 14th, and each child completing the program requirements during this time period will receive a free Raging Waves full day admission pass.
The Plunge into fitness program requires a minimum of 30 minutes of exercise each day, which totals 25 hours for the seven week period. Any activity that increases heart rate qualifies including: walking, running, biking, playing team sports, skateboarding, swimming, jumping rope and hopscotch. For the duration of the program, each child will complete a fitness log attached below. Once complete, a parent will sign it and the child will turn it into the school office by April 14th.
