National PTA offers Common Core Education Series

National PTA has released programing to help educate parents on the Common Core standards.  Take a look at the links below if you are interested.

Watch https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1gQm0exScEI.  This is a short video of school administrators and teachers who provide an overview of Common Core’s new English Language Arts standards.

Watch the recently released Common Core Video series to educate parents on the standards and empower them to support the transition at school and home.  http://www.pta.org/advocacy/content.cfm?ItemNumber=4158

The series was developed in partnership with the Hunt Institute (http://www.hunt-institute.org/) to dispel the myths and provide accurate information about the Common Core

And the winner of the summer BoxTop contest is…..

Thank you to all that participated in the Summer Box top Contest.  This year’s winner is the O’Donnell family!

BoxTops are an important part of our schools fund raising efforts bringing in over $1000 per year for our PTA.  So if you did not win our summer contest, don’t worry your class will still have the opportunity to earn treats through out the year just for turning in your Box Tops!

Do you have 4th or 5th graders who like to sing? It is not too late to join the D96 choir.

Does your 4th or 5th grade child enjoy singing? Have them join the District 96 Choir. The Choir meets on Tuesdays in the Central Music Room and is still accepting members.  Please see the attached flyer. Contact Mrs. Lauritsen with any questions.
