Blythe Park PTA Happenings 01/20/2015

Blythe Park School’s night at the Chicago Steel will be held this Saturday, January 24th.  It is mascot night!  The Chicago Steel will be facing the Dubuque Fighting Saints.  The game time is 7:00pm and tickets will be $7.00 per person. Ticket purchase includes a popcorn.

This year, we have a couple of prize opportunities for high ticket sellers.

Top ticket seller will get a one person ride in the Zamboni

Number 2 and Number 3 ticket sellers will each take 5 friends to the tunnel party prior to the game to high five the players as they enter the ice.

All ticket sellers will be entered into a raffle for a piece of Chicago Steel merchandise.

All students present are invited to sing the national anthem at the start of the game.

To order tickets, go to www.blytheparkpta.org and click on the Chicago Steel logo.  Make your ticket order on-line and then submit payment to the school office in an envelope labeled with your family name.  All ticket orders must be placed by Tuesday, January 20th.

Blythe Park’s first Parent University will be held this Thursday, January 22nd from 6:30-8:00 PM. The topic of the parent university will be the inclusive classroom. Please see the attached flyer for more information. If you plan on attending, please RSVP to Ms. Gorman at gormanc@district96.org

This Thursday, January 22nd from 12:30p until 3:00pm is another library  ”work day”. Please feel free to come for however long you are available. We will be emptying shelves and moving bookcases and then restocking shelves. If time allows,  we would like to start weeding old books from the shelves.

Please know any time you have to help is greatly appreciated.  Light refreshments will be served.

Treat your kid(s) to a hot lunch and treat yourself to a day off from packing lunches!

The next Hot Lunch Fundraiser will be held on Friday, January 23rd.  The menu will include: slice of cheese pizza, seasonal fruit, cookie and a drink.  The cost per child is $5.00.  To register your child(ren), go to www.blytheparkpta.org and click on the hot lunch sign-up button located on the right side bar.

Reservation deadline is Wednesday, January 21st. This program is only for children that have the option of staying at school for lunch.

If you have signed-up and paid for the entire year, no reservations are needed.

    

For the kids who are attending this Winter’s “Kid’s Boot Camp program,  see you Friday at 7:45am in the gym. Would like to join?  Pick up a flyer with a permission slip in the office.  The program is for 2nd-5th graders.

    

Blythe Park PTA’s annual Snowball Dance will be held on Friday, January 30th from 6:30-8:00pm in the gym. It will be a winter wonderland of fun! Make sure to bring the whole family out to dance a snowy night away! Any questions, contact Margaret Senese at margaretsenese3@gmail.com.

The Teacher’s Angel Fund is looking for more winter outerwear for children in need at school. Donations of warm weather clothing - coats, snow pants, boots, hats, gloves and other winter gear in all size would be greatly appreciated.   Just drop off that gently-used, outgrown gear to Mrs. Bryan or in the office. Thank you!

    

The PTA  Executive Board is looking for volunteers to fill the two general member and one alternate general member slots on the Nominating Committee. The Nominating Committee will develop the slate of candidates for the 2014-2015 PTA Executive board.  The proposed slate will be presented at the March 13th PTA Meeting, then voted on during the April meeting.  If you are interested, please contact Julie Stack at 773-251-0168.

    

The Blythe Park PTA extends an invitation to all Blythe Park families to remember someone special in your life and help build our library collection at the same time. How does the program work? You select and purchase a book from the library wish list and create your personalized dedication.
