Face Painting for the 5th Graders this week

Help start a new tradition at Blythe Park by raising money to fund a field trip for the fifth graders to go to Navy Pier!

5th graders will be available April 28-May 1st during lunch recess to paint a BLYTHE PARK BULLDOG PAW PRINT on students’ cheeks or arms.

· EACH PAW PRINT COSTS $1.00. (cash only)

· STUDENTS MAY GET ONE PAW PRINT PER DAY.

· Painting will be in Mrs. King’s room.

· Students need to have cash with them when they arrive at school in the morning. Students will not be allowed to call home to get cash.

This Thursday at 6pm is the Science Fair. Not too late to participate!

Bring out the scientist in your child and be a part of the Blythe Park’s Science Fair to be held at 6:00pm this Thursday, April 30th prior to Spring Open House at 6:30pm.  If you are still interested in participating, please sign-up going to the right bar at www.blytheparkpta.org and clicking on the science night button.

Need to Know Details:

Students will conduct their own science experiment at home to either display or demonstrate at the Science Fair. Each student’s display will be set-up on a card table. There will be no judging. Each student will receive a participation award. Students may work individually or in a group of no more than two students. Each participating student will be required to follow the five steps of the Scientific Method and complete and bring the Scientific Method worksheet with their experiment. Participation is optional.

The Incentive to Participate Is Back!

If 30 or more students participate in the Science Night, Mrs. Gaynor and Mrs. Ford will run an additional “Science and a Sandwich” program.   All participating students, will be invited to conduct a cool science experiment during lunch.

Display Board Available

Half-size display boards will be available at the school. PTA has ordered boards and will be offering them to science night participants for the low cost of $2.00.  If you are interested in a half-size board, please check that box on your RSVP.

Spring Open House this Thursday, April 30th at 6:30pm

Parents and children are welcome to attend Blythe Park’s Spring Open House on Thursday, April 30th. The school will be open from 6:30 – 7:30 p.m.

Stop by your child’s classroom anytime between 6:30-7:15 p.m. Don’t miss the 5th Grade Tug of War taking place at 7:15 p.m. outside in the amphitheater, weather permitting.

    

 

Cardio Kids meets this week - Thursday and Friday

Blythe Park’s Spring Run & Walk club for students in grades 2nd - 5th will meet Thursday, April 30th and Friday, May 1st this week.  Please have your runners/walkers dressed appropriately for the activity and the weather and be ready to go at 7:50am.   The students will join Ms. Gorman and Mr. Bartelt in a run around the Blythe Park Campus.  Four laps around the school equals one mile.  Students will be tracked with the goal of completing an incremental marathon.  Parents are welcome to join as well.

    

 

School Supply Kit Sale start May 1st

Blythe Park PTA’s school supply kit sale will run May 1st - June 1st.  All orders will be available to purchase online from The Write Stuff  and be delivered right to school.  How Convenient!

4th/5th Spring Music Show to be held May 11th

This year’s 4th/5th Grade Spring Music Show will be held Monday, May 11th at 6:30pm in auditorium.  The 4th/5th graders will perform “Pirates -the Musical”.

    

 

Enter Riverside Junior Woman Charity’s 4th of July Parade Theme Contest

Show your patriotism and creativity and enter Riverside Junior Woman’s Charity’s annual Independence Day Parade Theme Contest! The theme contest winner will receive a $25 Aunt Diana’s gift certificate, a family pass to the Illinios Railway Museum, AND will ride in the 4th of July parade! This contest is open to all children Kindergarten - 5th grades.  All participants will receive an Aunt Diana’s coupon!  Contest deadline is May 26th.

Blythe PTA bylaws posted for review

To keep our PTA in good standing, bylaws must be updated and submitted every two years.  The bylaws have been updated and are attached for general membership review.  The General Membership has 30 days to review the bylaws. The updated bylaws will need to be voted on. The vote will take place during our next general membership on May 15th.
