It is Sidewalk Art Week! Sign-up to be a sidewalk chalk artist today.

It is not too late to be a Sidewalk Chalk Artist!

To celebrate the beginning of  the school year and Blythe Park creativity, we are hoping to chalk all the sidewalk squares that surround Blythe Park with beautiful artwork.  So, come join in the fun!

How does it work? Different from last year, this event will no longer be a fundraiser.  It will just be a fun, creative, family art event.  To participate, please sign-up by clicking on the sidewalk chalk art program button at www.blytheparkpta.org. The button is located on the right banner.

Squares can be chalked with your artistic design on Tuesday, September 8th,  Wednesday, September 9th or Thursday, September 10th right after school or in the evening.   Locate your square by looking for the craft stick with your name on it.  You will need to bring chalk to make your creation.

On Thursday, your child will be able to chalk their square during lunch recess.  If you would like your child to chalk during lunch, please click on the button below to sign them up.  Please make sure to send your child with some chalk too!

As part of this year’s Fall Parent Night on Thursday, September 10th, we will have our very own art gallery on display.

Tips for great sidewalk art:

  • Create a simple design - either abstract or an object
  • Plan to use the whole square
  • Rub chalk in design and then use your hands to spread over entire area
  • Google sidewalk chart art for ideas

Purchase gift cards through Scrips and earn Buck$ for Blythe Park

Scrip fundraising is a no-selling program that enables families to raise money for their non-profit organization. Scrip is just another way to pay for everyday purchases using gift cards in place of cash, checks, and credit cards. You purchase gift cards from your PTA at face value, and your coordinator orders those cards at a reduced price. The difference is an instant rebate for your organization.

It’s really that simple! Great Lakes Scrip Center has over 300 of the country’s biggest brands, including grocery, department stores, gas stations, restaurants, hotels, home improvement, and more. Just by using scrip to pay for your normal weekly purchases, you can easily raise $500 or more per year. It’s time to put your shopping dollars to work!

The Blythe Buck$ order date will be the 1st Tuesday of each month (4pm deadline) and orders will be delivered same week by Friday. Orders can be placed online with checks payable to Blythe Park PTA for those do not enroll in PrestoPay online (optional). Orders can be filled out using attached form and checks sent to school office.

D96 looking for your input! Complete the strategic planning survey.

As you may have heard, the Board of Education of District 96 has launched a strategic planning process. They are gathering community input about what the District priorities and goals should be over the next five years.

The first step in this process is to survey the community. An online survey is now available on the District website and hard copy surveys are also available from the District by request. We encourage as many community members to respond by September 15th as possible.

Also, after the survey data has been gathered, they will be looking for volunteers to participate in one of five focus groups. Using the survey data as input, each focus group will work to identify the top District priorities in the areas of Instruction, Climate and Culture, Finance, Facilities, and Human Relations. The focus groups will meet in two sessions of roughly four hours each on the evenings of October 15th and 16th.

If you are interested in serving on a focus group, please contact our interim Superintendents Mr. Patrick Patt (pattp@district96.org) and Dr. Griff Powell (powellg@district96.org).
