2017-2018 EXECUTIVE BOARD POSITIONS:
Listed below are the 2017-2018 Executive Board positions. Click on the following link for a full description of each position (Blythe Park PTA Officer Descriptions).

  • President
  • First Vice President (Membership and Volunteers)
  • Second Vice President (Academic Enrichment Programs)
  • Third Vice President (Fundraising)
  • Secretary
  • Treasurer
  • Parliamentarian
  • Communications Officer

APPLICATION GUIDELINES:
Each term is one year. No person can serve more than two consecutive terms in the same position. Therefore, if an office holder has completed the one year term, he/she is welcome to apply for one more year in that same position.

However, it is mandatory that office holders seeking a second term in the same position, office holders seeking a different position on the executive board, and general members seeking a position on the executive board submit a formal application to be considered by the nominating committee.

EVERY person desiring a position on the Blythe Park PTA executive board must submit a formal application. All applications are confidential and will only be discussed between members of the nominating committee.

The Nominating Committee’s Proposed Slate will be presented at the March PTA General Membership Meeting and voted on at the April meeting. Elected officers will be installed at the May 2017 PTA General Membership meeting.

If interested, please submit a completed application form to the Blythe Park Office by Wednesday, March 1st. Girls Yoga this Wednesday. Class online reservation deadline is Tuesday.

imageGirls Yoga will take place this Wednesday from 3:00-3:45pm in the Blythe Park Gym for girls in Kindergarten-5th Grade. *Class reservation deadline is Tuesday.

Purchase one class or two-class pass at $10 per class. Please register online by clicking the Cheddar Up button. Pay online or send cash/check to the school office with “Girls Yoga” on the envelope and child’s name. (Please make checks payable to Blythe Park PTA.)

Kids Tae Kwon Do class this Thursday. Class online reservation deadline is Wednesday.

imageKids Tae Kwon Do will be held on Thursday from 3:00-3:45pm in the Blythe Park Gym for all students in K-5th Grade. *Weekly class reservation deadline is Wednesday. You must signup to participate.

Purchase one class OR four class pass at $10 per class. This is the last week to purchase a 14 class pass for $130 (13 classes at $10 and one class FREE). Please sign up by clicking on the Cheddar Up button. Pay online or send cash/check to the school office with “Kids Tae Kwon Do” on the envelope and child’s name. Fitness Calendars Due FRIDAY. Bulldog Fitness Challenge Updates.

FITNESS FRIDAY – 
Last week was Fitness Friday! As part of the PTA’s Bulldog Challenge program, the goal of Fitness Fridays is to expose the students to a variety of sports and fitness activities.

All PE classes participated in a half hour of Lacrosse with our guest expert, Rich Frantozzi, the head coach of the Berwyn Bombers Park District Lacrosse Team. He taught the students about scooping, catching and throwing. Ask your child about the relays and fun Lacrosse activities they played throughout the morning!

FITNESS CHALLENGE – Bulldog Challenge paw print charms were sent home last week. January fitness calendars are due this Friday, February 3rd! Don’t forget to turn in your forms to get your paw charm! Click on the following link for an extra form:

The Snowball Dance is next Friday! Looking for volunteers to help. Sign-up now!

TWO WEEKS left to fill out your reading log for a FREE admission ticket to Six Flags.

imageLog your recreational reading hours and participate in the Six Flags “Read to Succeed” Program to receive one free admission ticket to a participating Six Flags Theme Park this summer.

Every Blythe Park student who completes six hours of recreational reading and submits a signed reading log by FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 10th will receive one free admission ticket to a participating Six Flags Theme Park this summer.

STUDENTS: Read for fun for a total of 6 hours, log your time and have your parent/guardian sign the reading log.

PARENTS/GUARDIANS: Print the reading log listed below and help track your child’s reading. Then sign the form and send it back to school or email to the School Coordinator, Michelle Ruska at mbulir@aol.com

Show off your talent in the Blythe Park PTA Talent Show on Thursday, February 23rd.

talentshowartThis year’s Talent Show will held on Thursday, February 23rd at 7pm with a mandatory dress rehearsal on Wednesday, February 22nd from 3:00pm-5:00pm.

The requirements for participating in the show are as follows:

  • All acts are prepared and rehearsed by the child or group on their own time
  • All acts can be no longer than two minutes in length
  • Music needs to be approved by Mrs. Smith. If possible, please supply a copy of the music for the show.
  • Participants are responsible for supplying any props and costumes needed for their performance.

Participants will be asked to present their act to the Talent Show Committee the week of February 13th during their lunchtime. Participants will be notified of their presentation date the week prior to the Talent Show.

This is the last month to submit Box Tops to win a pizza party for your child’s class!

imageThe class with the highest number of valid Box Tops submitted through February 24, 2017 will win a Pizza Party for their class. A poster tracking the results is posted outside the office. *NOTE: Expired Box Tops will not count towards the contest totals.

Box Tops can be turned in to the office at anytime, either on the following monthly Box Top collection sheet or in a baggie/envelope with the student’s name and grade. Box Tops – Collection Sheet

A few friendly reminders:

  • Please submit only valid/unexpired Box Tops. Unfortunately, the largest number of Box Tops has been expired Box Tops. Only valid/unexpired Box Tops can be submitted for credit.
  • Please be sure to include students name/grade on either the monthly Box Tops sheet, an envelope or baggie.  Box Tops can be turned in to the office at any time.

Library Reader/Helper times available for Kindergarten, 1st, 2nd and 3rd Grade

imageVolunteer spots are available for February through May to help Kindergarten, 1st, 2nd and 3rd Grade students during their library time. 

Volunteers for Kindergarten will have the opportunity to read to the students. Volunteers for 1st, 2nd and 3rd grade will help students find books for check out and then have the opportunity to read to the students. Please click on the button below to sign-up:
