The PTA is looking for a VP (or co-VPs) of Fundraising.

We need your help! The Blythe Park PTA is in need of a Vice President (OR co-Vice Presidents) of Fundraising for the 2018-2019 school year. As a board member, you can make an even greater difference at Blythe Park School!

Following are the VP of Fundraising responsibilities. If you’re interested in this position, please contact one of the Nominating Committee members listed below.

Third Vice President – Fundraising
Responsibilities include:

  1. Work with the Board to review current Fundraising Events and Programs (i.e. profitability, number of people required, etc.).
    *This year’s events and programs included: Adult Social/Comedy Night, Bake Sale, Box Tops, Dinner Out, Direct Donation, Hot Lunch, Rainbow Run, Scholastic Book Fair, Spa Day, Spirit Wear, TaeKwonDo and Yoga Classes.
  2. Research new ideas and make suggestions to the Board for new Fundraising Events and Programs.
    *For example, this year’s new events were Comedy Night, Rainbow Run and Spa Day.
  3. Work with the Treasurer to prepare budget recommendations for the upcoming year’s Fundraising Events.
  4. Work with the Board to prepare calendar dates for the upcoming year’s Fundraising Events.
  5. Assist the Board in finding chairpersons for Fundraising Events and Programs.
  6. Act as point person for chairpersons organizing Fundraising Events and Programs.
  7. Attend General Membership and Executive Board Meetings. Keep the Board informed of Fundraising activities.

Kids TaeKwonDo –
Vinson Villena, owner of Flying V Athletic Center, will hold TaeKwonDo classes in the Blythe Park Gym for all students in Kindergarten – 5th Grade.

Uniform (Dobuk) is optional. Purchase information will be handed out during class.

Cardio Kids starts Wednesday at 7:45am.


Cardio Kids will begin it’s spring session this Wednesday, April 11th.

Students in Grades K-5 are encouraged to join Mrs. Gorman, Mr. Bartelt and Mrs. Rehor every Wednesday and Thursday morning from 7:45am – 8:05am where they will walk or run the Blythe Park Walking Path (warm-up begins in the gymnasium).

*NOTE: All parents/guardians are welcome to participate but parents/guardians of students in kindergarten and first grade MUST be present to walk or run with their child.

The mission of this club is to meet students at their fitness level and show them how to develop stamina, strength and speed. Other goals of the club include building friendships and a strong school community.

Feed Our Community Day this Saturday, April 14th

You’re invited to join with family, friends, and neighbors to pack 50,000 meals of hope for hungry children and their families for Feed Our Community Day on Saturday, April 14th.

Blythe Park PTA has reserved a table at each available time slot for Blythe Park families and friends to help pack meals for local families in need. The PTA will make a donation to Feed6 for all participants.

Bring the whole family to pack meals for the hungry. Anyone of any age can participate! Click on the following button to volunteer:

The PTA will make a donation to FEED 6 for all participants.

Relaxed, comfortable clothes and footwear. Don’t forget to wear your Blythe Park spirit wear!

Information:
Riverside and North Riverside neighbors are partnering with Hauser Jr. High School and Outreach, an international 501(c)(3) non-profit, for this amazing event. Since 2004, Outreach has packaged and distributed over 300 million meals to hungry children and their families. Through its innovative mobile food packaging program, Outreach and it’s Chicago affiliate Feed6, bring together hundreds of volunteers to package meals for the hungry.

*Meals will be distributed locally to the hungry and food insecure in our community.

    

Young Author Books on display at the Riverside Library April 16-23

The Blythe Park 2018 Young Author Books will be on display starting next week from April 16th – April 23rd at the Riverside Public Library in the children’s section.

*Note – There will not be a reception this year.

Treat your kid(s) to a hot lunch and treat yourself to a day off from packing lunches!

Hot Lunch is next Friday, April 20th. The menu will include: a slice of cheese pizza, seasonal fruit, a treat and a drink. The cost per child is $5.00. (You can pay for the remainder of the year or single lunches.)

Science Fair is on Thursday, April 26th. Start your project now!

Bring out the scientist in your child and be a part of the PTA Science Fair on Thursday, April 26th at 5:30pm (prior to Spring Open House).

  • Students will conduct their own science experiments and create their display board at home.
  • Students may work individually or in a group of no more than two students.
  • Each student’s display will be setup on a card table in the gym.
  • There will be no judging.
  • Participation is optional.
  • Each student will receive a participation award.

Display Boards Available –
Half-size display boards will be available for purchase in the office from the PTA for $2.
