Participate in the Great Kindness Challenge this week!

The Great Kindness Challenge is one week dedicated to creating a culture of kindness and compassion on campuses worldwide.

Blythe Park is proudly participating in this proactive and positive kindness initiative.

Please encourage your child to complete as many acts of kindness as possible on the Great Kindness Challenge checklist (sent home in student backpacks).

Great Kindness Challenge Week Spirit Days:

  • TUESDAY: “Hats Off to Kindness” – Wear your favorite hat to school.
  • WEDNESDAY: “Dream of Kindness” – Wear your pajamas to school.
  • THURSDAY: “Kindness Can't be Beat – Wear your favorite team attire or dress in athletic wear.
  • FRIDAY: “Kindness the Bulldog Way” – Wear Blythe Park spirit wear or colors.

All students are invited to participate by giving their extra coins! Students can collect spare change at home, and bring to school until March 1st.

Register NOW for Parks & Rec After-School Programs

The registration deadline is 5 days prior to the class start date for Riverside Parks and Rec after-school programs. REGISTER NOW!

  • Winter Sessions at Blythe Park will begin the week of February 4th
  • Spring Sessions at Blythe Park will begin the week of April 8th

Classes will take place directly after school from 3-4pm.

The Blythe Park PTA is pleased to welcome New York Times bestselling author and illustrator, Jeff Weigel, to Blythe Park on Friday, March 1st.

Book Orders are due THIS THURSDAY
If you would like to order signed copies of Jeff Weigel's books, please fill out the order form sent home in your student's backpack (or print: Book Order Form) and return with your check made out Blythe Park PTA by Thursday, January 31st.

Fun Lunch is NEXT Friday – Volunteer help needed!

Blythe Park PTA Fun Lunch is next Friday, February 8th! The PTA will serve all students lunch at no cost to their families.

This year's theme is “That's Amore!The menu will feature:

  • Pasta (buttered or with marinara)
  • Bread
  • Salad
  • Red grapes
  • Cherry Italian ice
  • Pink lemonade and water

Early Learners and Kindergarteners are invited to join us for lunch too!

*NOTE: Each Early Learner and Kindergartener must be accompanied by an adult guardian. The RSVP form (sent home in student backpacks) is due this FRIDAY.

VOLUNTEER – To make this event a success, we're looking for volunteers to cook (*new slots added), set up, serve (buffet style), and clean up.

Library Readers needed for Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd Grade.

Volunteer spots are available on Wednesdays and Thursdays to help Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd Grade students during their library time.

Volunteers for Kindergarten will have the opportunity to read to the students.

Volunteers for 1st and 2nd grade will help students find books for checkout and then read to the students.

Following is the library schedule for K, 1st, and 2nd grade:

Wednesdays –
AM Kindergarten: 8:30 – 8:50am
2nd Grade: 1:50 – 2:20pm
PM Kindergarten: 2:20 – 2:50pm

Thursdays –
1st Grade: 12:20 – 12:50pm

Six Flags Reading Logs are due NEXT Friday.

Six Flags Reading Logs are due NEXT FRIDAY (February 8th).

Every K-5th Grade Blythe Park student who completes six hours of recreational reading and submits a signed reading log by NEXT FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 8th will receive one free admission ticket to a participating Six Flags Theme Park this summer.

K-5th Grade STUDENTS: Read for fun for a total of 6 hours, log your time and have your parent/guardian sign the reading log.

PARENTS/GUARDIANS: Print the reading log listed below and help track your child's reading. Then sign the form and send it back to school or email to the School Coordinator: Jennifer Sloger at jensloger@gmail.com

*NOTE – Tickets are expected to arrive in May.

Start the Raging Waves Fitness Program and earn a FREE full day admission pass.

Students are invited to “Plunge into Fitness” this spring as Raging Waves Waterpark joins the battle against childhood obesity.

Each student completing the program requirements between February 11th through April 5th will receive a FREE full day admission pass to Raging Waves, located in Yorkville.

STUDENTS: Exercise a minimum of 30 minutes each day (equaling 25 hours per week) from February 11th through April 5th. Log your time and have a parent/guardian sign the log.

PARENTS/GUARDIANS: Print the log listed below and help track your child's fitness, then sign the form and send it back to school or email to the School Coordinator, Deb (Galloway) Strama at dastrama@gmail.com by April 5th.

Light Donations
The Snowball Dance committee is looking for white string lights to make the Blythe Park gym magical for this year's dance! So, as you put away your holiday decorations, please consider donating some of your white string lights.

Donations can be dropped off at the Blythe Park school office.

PTA Talent Show – Fill out permission slip to participate!


This year's Talent Show will be held on Thursday, February 28th at 7pm with a mandatory dress rehearsal on Wednesday, February 27th from 3:00pm-4:30pm.

Requirements for participating in the show are as follows:

  • All acts are prepared and rehearsed by the child or group on their own time
  • All acts can be no longer than two minutes in length
  • Music needs to be approved by Mrs. Smith. If possible, please supply a copy of the music for the show.
  • Participants are responsible for supplying any props and costumes needed for their performance.

Participants will be asked to present their act to the Talent Show Committee the week of February 11th during their lunchtime. *Participants will be notified of their specific presentation date.
