Library Readers needed this week!

Volunteer spots are available on Wednesday to help AM Kindergarten and 2nd Grade students during their library time.

Volunteers for Kindergarten will have the opportunity to read to the students.

Volunteers for 1st and 2nd grade will help students find books for checkout and then read to the students.

Following is the library schedule for K, 1st, and 2nd grade:

Wednesdays
AM Kindergarten: 8:30 – 8:50am
2nd Grade: 1:50 – 2:20pm
PM Kindergarten: 2:20 – 2:50pm

Thursdays
1st Grade: 12:20 – 12:50pm

Help out the Student Council by donating your spare change!

Spare change will be collected by the Student Council until this FRIDAY (March 1st).

In the spirit of the Great Kindness Challenge, the Blythe Park Student Council will continue to collect spare change to donate to a hospital providing healthcare services to people in Liberia, a country devastated by civil war.

PTA sponsored author visit this Friday.

The Blythe Park PTA is pleased to welcome New York Times bestselling author and illustrator, Jeff Weigel, to Blythe Park this Friday, March 1st.

Jeff Weigel is an illustrator, author, and designer of children's books, graphic novels, and comics. Jeff has taught illustration, visual storytelling, and graphic design to both kids and adults over the years.

On Friday, Jeff will demonstrate how to create stories and characters for books and comics and show Blythe students how they can unleash their imaginations and tell their own stories with words and pictures.

PTA Executive Board applications due Friday.

The Blythe Park PTA is looking for PTA members who are interested in serving on the 2019-2020 Executive Board.

Completed application forms must be submitted to the Blythe Park office this Friday, March 1st.

2019-2020 EXECUTIVE BOARD POSITIONS –

APPLICATION GUIDELINES:
Each term is one year and no person can serve more than two consecutive terms in the same position (unless otherwise noted). Therefore, if an office holder has completed the one year term, he/she is welcome to apply for one more year in that same position.

However, it is mandatory that officeholders seeking a second term in the same position, officeholders seeking a different position on the executive board, and general members seeking a position on the executive board submit a formal application to be considered by the Nominating Committee.

*EVERY person desiring a position on the Blythe Park PTA Executive Board must submit a formal application. All applications are confidential and will only be discussed between members of the Nominating Committee.

The Nominating Committee's Proposed Slate will be presented at the March PTA General Membership Meeting and voted on at the April meeting. Elected officers will be installed at the May 2019 PTA General Membership meeting.

If interested – Please submit a completed application form to the Blythe Park Office by Friday, March 1st. If more than one position interests you, please designate which position is your first choice.

Pool Party this Saturday!

The PTA has reserved the entire Oak Brook Aquatic Center to splash around with Blythe Park families and friends this SATURDAY!

WHEN: Saturday, March 2nd

6:00-8:00pm
WHERE: Oak Brook Aquatic Center, 1450 Forest Gate Rd., Oak Brook
COST: FREE *Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Feed Our Community Day – Volunteer slots added!

You're invited to join with family, friends, and neighbors to pack 50,000 meals of hope for hungry children and their families for Feed Our Community Day on Saturday, March 2nd.

The Blythe Park PTA has reserved additional tables at the 9-11am and 11am-1pm shifts to help pack meals for local families in need. Anyone of any age can participate!

Participate in the Raging Waves Fitness Program to earn a FREE admission pass.

Students are invited to “Plunge into Fitness” this spring as Raging Waves Waterpark joins the battle against childhood obesity.

Each student completing the program requirements between February 11th –April 5th will receive a FREE full day admission pass to Raging Waves, located in Yorkville.

STUDENTS: Keep track of your exercise by coloring one item on the fitness log for every 30 minutes you exercise. Complete 25 hours of exercise between February 11th – April 5th.

PARENTS/GUARDIANS: Print the log listed below and help track your child's fitness, then sign the form and send it back to school or email to the School Coordinator, Deb (Galloway) Strama at dastrama@gmail.com by April 5th.
