Blythe Park parent and yoga instructor, Stephane Roldan, will be joining Mr. Bartelt during PE class leading the students in yoga and mindfulness activities this Tuesday October 1st.

National Walk and Bike to School Day this Wednesday, October 2nd

imageMake an effort to walk or ride your bike to school this Wednesday, October 2nd for National Walk and Bike to School Day. Additionally, throughout next week all students and staff are asked to bring in a photograph showing themselves being active in some way. Pictures of students (and families) swimming, biking, skiing, hiking, etc, are just a few examples of photos to be shared. Pictures will be hung in our main foyer so the entire school community can celebrate our healthy and active students!

Cardio Kids starts Tuesday.

Cardio Kids will begin the fall session this Tuesday (October 1st).

Students in Grades K-5 are encouraged to join Mrs. Gorman, Mr. Bartelt and Ms. Dirienzo on Tuesdays and Thursdays for a morning walk, jog, or run. Please note that, when participating in Cardio Kids, all students and parents must enter and exit through the main front doors. The doors by the gymnasium will no longer be used as an entrance or exit location for Cardio Kids.

  • DATES: Tuesday and Thursdays (April 9th-May 17th)
  • TIME: 7:45-8:05am
  • PLACE: Warm-up begins in the gymnasium. Participants will walk/run on Blythe Park walking path.

*NOTE: All parents/guardians are welcome to participate but parents/guardians of students in kindergarten and first grade MUST be present to walk or run with their child.

The mission of this club is to meet students at their fitness level and show them how to develop stamina, strength, and speed. Other goals of the club include building friendships and a strong school community.

Attention Blythe Park Volunteers!

District 96 is now using the Raptor Volunteer system to perform background checks on volunteers.

Before volunteering at a District 96 school campus or field trips, individuals must be cleared through the Raptor system and are required to provide a picture ID to receive their volunteer badge upon check-in. To become a volunteer, an individual must complete a Raptor Volunteer Application. The application is to be filled out completely by the volunteer at their home by visiting https://apps.raptortech.com/Apply/MTgzMzplbi1VUw==

The levels associated with each volunteer function are based on being under the direct supervision of District 96 staff.

  • A Level 1 volunteer is always under the supervision of District 96 staff and will be requested to complete an online application to complete a background check using the national sex offender database.
  • A Level 2 volunteer may not be under the direct supervision of District 96 staff and will be requested to complete an online application and submit their Social Security number to complete a criminal background check (including the National Criminal Database and national sex offender database).

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact Jason Smit at smitj@district96.org or 708.447.5007. Thank you for your understanding and support of enhancing school safety protocols in our school and district.
