Blythe Park PTA Happenings 12/01/2019

Hot Lunch registration open for Dec, Jan, Feb

Registration is open for Hot Lunch – Register your student for the next three months or the remainder of the year (6 months). The Hot Lunch menu will include a slice of cheese pizza, seasonal fruit, a treat, and a drink.

If you have not registered your student by Wednesday, December 18th, they will not have the opportunity to register again for Hot Lunch until the next payment period in March.

Single lunch payments are not available. Also, no prorating, no make-up day, no refunds.

2019-2020 Hot Lunch PAYMENT Schedule

  • PAYMENT #2 Deadline: Wednesday, December 18th
    for December, January, and February ($15 per student for 3 lunches)
    OR remainder of the year ($30 per student for 6 lunches)
  • PAYMENT #3 Deadline: Wednesday, March 18th
    for March, April, and May ($15 per student for 3 lunches)

TO REGISTER – Please click on the following button, no matter your payment method (cash, check, credit).

If paying by cash or check (payable to Blythe Park PTA) please place payment in an envelope marked with your family name and “Hot Lunch” and bring to the school office. *NOTE – This program is only for children that have the option of staying at school for lunch.

    Friday, February 21
  • Friday, March 20
    Friday, April 24
    Friday, May 22

PTA Holiday Ornament Workshop Tuesday, December 3rd at 6 pm.

Every year the PTA makes a handmade ornament for each Blythe Park student and staff member.

If you'd like to volunteer to help assemble this year's ornaments, our next date is December 3rd in the school library. Click on the following sign up button.

*An Additional workshop dates will be added soon!

No crafting experience required. Supplies and instructions will be provided by the PTA. Bring your holiday cheer!

Parent Volunteers Needed for CodePlayLearn sessions

The PTA is sponsoring STEM programs for our K-5th-grade students beginning this week. Code Play Learn of Oak Park, will be here over the next two weeks for this technology residency. Their programs help students learn science and technology through hands-on and project-based learning experiences. We could use a parent volunteer for each class to help the students with their projects.

Free Yoga classes for Blythe Park Community Teachers and Parents

Thank you to parent Annette Petersen for transforming our gym into a relaxing yoga space and thank you to the parents who attended.

Please consider attending our last session in December. No yoga experience required! Come enjoy a yoga class and stay for a cup of tea and social time with other parents and teachers (adults only and tea and socializing not required).
Location: Blythe Park Gymnasium
Doors open at 6:45 pm. Use north doors to enter school. Yoga class from 7 pm-8 pm
Social time and tea 8 pm-830pm

Collect Box Tops to help Blythe Park PTA earn $$

Box Tops is a great way to donate to Blythe Park PTA through products you already purchase. Each Box Top you collect is worth 10 cents to our school. Click to view the list of participating products: Box Tops for Education Participating Products

Starting this year, the Box Tops program has gone digital! Download the Box Top App to send your Tops to Blythe Park without clipping, bagging or bundling. Simply scan your store receipt with the Box Tops mobile app to identify participating products and twice a year Blythe Park PTA will receive scanned online.

  • Choose Blythe Park Elementary as your school
  • Scan your receipt within 14 days of purchase

Traditional Box Tops are still accepted. – If you have traditional Box Tops or purchase new items with traditional Tops, you can still clip (*unexpired only) and hold on to them for now. We'll announce details on how to turn them in, in the future.

Library Readers/Helpers are needed this Wednesday (1st grade) and Thursday (PM Kindergarten.)

Volunteer spots are available on Wednesdays and Thursdays to help Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd-grade students during their library time.

Volunteers for Kindergarten will have the opportunity to read to the students.

Volunteers for 1st and 2nd grade will help students find books for checkout and then read to the students.

Following is the library schedule for K, 1st, and 2nd grade:

Wednesdays (starting October 16th)

12:20-12:50 1st PInta

Thursdays (starting October 10th)
