Crystal’s $191 Kroger & Aldi Grocery Shopping Trips (+ 21 Days of No Sugar)

For a variety of reasons (which I’ll share on next week’s podcast episode), I challenged myself to go 21 days without eating refined sugar. It’s been SO good for me and I’ve discovered a lot of things about myself. Once I got over the initial 4 days of headaches and body aches, I’ve been feeling so energetic and more focused and inspired! Plus, I’m having fun getting creative with meals that I love that don’t have any refined sugar in them!

One of my go-to meals has been natural peanut butter with honey on whole wheat or Seedtastic bread from Aldi. I also have done a lot of peanut butter toast!

I never got my shopping trip posted last week, so this week I’m sharing two week’s worth of shopping trips. In that time frame, we went to Kroger twice and Aldi once and spent around $191 total.

Here was the first Kroger shopping trip. I was especially excited about the apples I found marked down ($0.99 for 4) and the blueberry deal. Plus, my kids were very excited about Honey Bunches of Oats for just $1.29/box!

Frozen veggies were also on sale for $0.99/bag.

And peppers were just $2.50 for three.

Peanut butter (not including the natural pb which was $1.99/jar) was on sale for $1.49/jar.

Jesse swung by Aldi last week to pick up a few things for meals that were cheaper there. Have you tried the Seedtastic bread? I am still swooning over it! And of course, he found the sweet Cold Foam at Aldi — we bought it a few years ago and then couldn’t find it for months and months. And then it came back right when I went off of sugar… go figure!

I’ve eaten a lot of egg salad sandwiches the past two weeks, too!

Apparently when I go off of sugar, I default to bread and sandwiches! 🙂

I also have been loving having Chai Lattes again.

My second trip to Kroger, I found even better deals — including 2 pounds of strawberries for $2.99!

And Honeydew melons for $1!!! Do you like honeydew melons? A number of people on my Instagram account said they didn’t think they were even worth $1! But I figured it was worth trying and hoping these are good — I can always put them in smoothies if they aren’t that great!

Kroger also had cheese — slides, bars, and shredded — for $1.49 per 8oz.

One of the best deals I got at Kroger was the 4-packs of Stoneyfield yogurt pouches marked down to $1.79 and they were also part of the Buy 5 or more, get $1 off each — so they ended up only being $0.79 per 4-pack!!!

Brats were on sale for $2.99, so I bought some to stick in the freezer. And ice cream and ice cream bars were $1.99 each.

I also had a $9 off $90 coupon that had been mailed to me + there was a digital coupon for $10 off $75! I was able to stack both coupons since my order before those coupons was over $100 — so I saved $19 just with those coupons alone!!

So all total, I spend $191 on groceries the past two weeks.
