A Peek Into This Past Week (+ an update on my goals & habit tracker)

I’ve been going through this Bible Study with a young woman I’ve mentoring and it’s been SO good!

Kierstyn has been begging for me to braid her hair multiple times per week.

Micah is a huge fan of solid foods and doesn’t like it if anyone is eating and not sharing with him. 🙂

My mom sent a box for the kids and Kierstyn and David spent a long time trying to get this toy opened.

Right after swimming lessons this week!

While I was with Micah and Kierstyn at swimming lessons, Jesse took David to get a hair cut… and he got hair on him so he was blowing off his sweatshirt and David was very fascinated!

We went to do laser tag with a few other couples on Sunday. It was my first laser tag experience and we had a BLAST!

Our biggest highlight of the week was Kathrynne turning 18!! I can’t believe we have an adult child now! You can read my birthday post for her here.

Here’s my update on my Habits Chart from last week. My goal is to have 5 x’s in each line — and I didn’t hit that at all this past week! I know it had to do with me staying up too late four nights in a row. This meant that I didn’t get enough sleep and was tired and dragging. This, in turn, impacted my productivity and focus and also made little things that usually wouldn’t bother me feel heavier and more irritating.

The beauty of habit tracking is that you can quickly spot areas which are likely contributing to you falling off the bandwagon or just feeling off track/unproductive and you can easily get back on track. By Friday of last week, I realized that I had to make sleep and going to bed earlier a priority. And within two days of doing that, things were in much, much better shape!

Here’s to hoping for a lot more x’s on my chart this next week!

2023 Weekly Goals Update

Every week, I’ll be giving an update on how I’m doing on my goals — since they are weekly goals. I thought it would be fun to do an update with a running total of how many weeks I hit them throughout the year. This week, I hit all of the goals — yay!!

Goal #1: Lose .1% Body Fat Per Week

This goal was pretty easy to hit this week just by hitting my workout goals, making movement a priority, drinking more water, and eating more protein.

Update: 4/52

Goal #2: Have One Family Dinner Per Week

We had three family dinners last week. I think just prioritizing it by putting it on my goals and daily habits list has made SUCH a difference in me getting creative in finding ways to make it happen!

Update: 4/52

Goal #3: Finish One Book Per Week

I finished one book last week. My review is coming tomorrow!

Update: 4/52

Goal #4: Have One Date With One Family Member Per Week

I took Kathrynne to the mall for her birthday to shop for some business casual and dressier clothes. We had so much fun and she found some great options!

Update: 4/52

Goal #5: Spend 25 Minutes on Organizing/Decluttering Each Week

You can see the decluttering and organizing I did last week here.

Update: 4/52

Goal #6: Delete 300 Photos/Videos From My Phone Each Week

I deleted more than 300 and it felt good!

Update: 4/52

52 Weeks of Organizing: the Bathroom, Laundry Room, & Car

I set a goal for 2023 to spend 5 minutes every day decluttering/organizing. I’m sharing 5 minute projects on Instagram each week day, if you’d like to follow along. For those who don’t have Instagram or miss some of my stories, I thought I’d do a recap post here each week with a peek into the organizing/decluttering I did this past week.

Monday: Organize & Declutter Bathroom Drawers

My top drawers in the bathroom had all sorts of odds and ends in them — including a lot of things (meds, etc.) that I took in my pregnancy… and Micah is 7 month old! 🙂

It felted so good to clean these out, throw some things away, and put things away where they go — mostly in the hygiene and medicine closet upstairs where we keep extra hygiene and medicine products.

It’s always so nice when it feels like spaces in our home can “breathe”!

Tuesday: Clean Out the Cupboards/Area in the Laundry Room

Someone commented on my picture above of our laundry room cupboards that it made them laugh that nothing in these was laundry related. Years ago, when Jesse and I were first married and we lived in a tiny one-bedroom apartment, I learned that it’s okay to put things where they make sense (or fit!) not necessarily where you are “supposed” to put them.

I probably could come up with some better organizational systems for these shelves, but for now, it feels good to have them more cleaned out and easier to see what we have!

It looks like the sock basket could use a clean out soon!

Wednesday: Pull Out Your Washer & Dryer and Clean Behind Them

This wasn’t as bad as I expected. In fact, while the rag looked nasty after I’d scrubbed the floor area back there, I feel like it could have been much, much worse! I was also happy to discover a few clothing items that were lurking back there — who knows how long they’d been back there!

Thursday: Clean Out the Trash or Other Items That Don’t Belong in Your Car

I was thrilled that this was all there was to clean out of my car! I’ve been working hard to clean things out every time I get home — usually it’s just a few extra things that need to be thrown away or put away. But by doing this consistently, my car is staying so much cleaner!

Friday: Wipe Down the Inside of Your Car With a Rag

My favorite type of rag to use for this is a microfiber cloth!

Slowly, bit by bit, my car is looking so much cleaner!
